Damn, you'd think after he scored 10 they'd double team him or something. They were almost all one-on-one plays.
He didn't play too much the second quarter. Hell, I'm not sure there were any Nugs out there in the second. Tied for first with Dallas. How sweet is that (for me)? Lenard in the first quarter was unbelievable though. That one quarter was one of the top 7 or 8 performances I've ever seen a single player have. 9-for-11. They were all over him, and couldn't stop him. Just un-freaking-real. Incredible game. I hope some of you that have League Pass got to watch it. Offense galore.
incredible....nugz 12-6. i told my friend before the season started that the nuggets had some players on their team, but damn i didn't expect this.
Hey, Nugs, I'd love to hear your take on Nene. I really love his "potential" and he's had some good games, but for a big man with his wingspan, he doesn't get the blocks or boards that I expected out of him. Seeing him play more often than I, you have any reason for this? And congrats on first...Rox fans knew what that felt like only a few weeks ago...
Nene -- personally, out of last year's draft, the only player I would take over him is Ming. I don't know if that's a compliment for Nene or a slam on last year's draft. When he has his stuff together, he's deadly. Look at two nights ago against the Cavs, he had 20+ points and 13 boards. The problem is, his jumper doesn't extend as far out as we would like it to (he can consistently make it from about 10' now, he needs to spread it out to 15' at least). The nice thing about the fact that he doesn't have the jumper yet, is that teams haven't realized that his ball handling skills are pretty damn good for a big man. Last night, he got the ball at the top of the key, and Dampier just sagged off of him. Nene took the ball, drove, spun and got the lay-up. Also, he can't quite finish around the basket sometimes. I know that sounds stupid, especially if you've been watching him lately, but sometimes when he's fouled instead of putting it down hard, he tries to get cute and blows the shot at the three point play. His defense is really good actually. The reason he doesn't get as many blocks as some on the team is the fact that he doesn't take as many chances. It's really wierd to watch him play compared to Chris Andersen. If someone gets near the key, Andersen will jump. If the shot goes up, he'll block it about 50% of the time (killer hops, no brain), but the problem is, if it does get by him, the guy he's guarding usually gets an easy rebound and lay-up. Meanwhile, Nene will stay down for position and usually force his defender to take the harder shot and let his opponent "block" his own shot. Honestly, this season is just a dream so far. After the last few years, it's nice to see a team busting ass AND having talent. Usually we get one of the two. The one's that try so damn hard are so untalented that it gets frustrating, and the ones that have talent are jackasses (Van Exel). Do I think the Nugs will be in the playoffs by the end of the year? Not really. Maybe it's because of how I've gotten used to this team disappointing. The simple fact is, our two best players are 19 years old and 21 years old. Come February, we're gonna hit a slump where everyone's just burnt out. If we're still in the playoff race in early April, this season is a HUGE success IMO.
i wouldnt mind seeing the nuggets become a good team. it always seems like the same teams every year.
13-7. If you guys get a chance, check out the Nugs on NBATV this Sunday against Boston. Should be interesting. Boston isn't scoring much, or allowing many points, the Nugs consistently have games that are 110-100. And I can't wait to see Raef try to stop Nene.
