Received a parking ticket the other day. Parking at a commercial parking meter. Was cited for not being a commercial vehicle, even though I was parking my car, while on a business visit to that building.

Anyone have recommendations on an attorney who is experienced with parking tickets?

Won't the attorney cost you more than the ticket?

Ticket is either $250 or $350.

Did you have any signage on your vehicle to identify it as a commercial vehicle?

I have a door magnet, but I took it off several months ago. In fact, on the ticket, it says something about a window marker not being present.

Commerical vehicles pay for permits to park in those places, and you didn't have one so you got the ticket, same as taxis and limos pay for permits to park at airports. You aren't a "commericial vehicle" simply because you are going there on business... that's classic.

I think the attorney costs will cost you as much or more for the ticket.

I know in the Bay Area attorneys charge $100 - $250/hour for consultation .. and more if you need to go to trial. It might not be worth it to contest the ticket.

If your talking about finding an attorney for advice / consulation hopefully it will be a friend of a friend kind of free advice thing.

If you want to hire an attorney to fight the ticket it doesnt make any sense because its a lose / lose for you.

Also what is your time worth to you?

Doesn't matter - you still have a good chance of getting off or getting deferred adjud. if you go through a traffic ticket attorney.

I'd use either David Sprecher or Gilligan & Kiker.

I'd go downtown and try to fight it. Parking tickets are fairly easy to get dismissed. Go down there and tell them you're an idiot and thought you qualified as a commerical vehicle and it won't happen again. I bet they'll let you off. I accidentally parked in a handicap spot (bad signage) and went and explained what happened. The lady was very nice and dismissed it. Several friends who parked in the same area got it dismissed, too.

I use Benavides and Kelly, two women lawyers who used to be prosecutors in the traffic court.
