Anyone besides me have trouble remembering the titles of their songs? Besides Stairway, Kashmir, and a few others, I can never be certain of the titles. This is the only band (that I listen to and like) that troubles me in this way.
I have trouble matching up titles to the obscure songs.. but I can remember most of the names at least.. even if I don't get the placement right
I'm the same way, rimrocker. Zeppelin is my second favorite band of all time, and I have the hardest time matching up their song titles with the music, when I hear it. I am getting better, but it doesn't happen to me for any other band but them. Well, there is AC/DC...but that is just because all of their songs are the same anyway.
I second the "Going to California," codell. Awesome song. Baby, please don't go. Dazed and Confused. And, what is with the metal tag stuck on Led Zeppelin? None of the songs mentioned in this thread sound very "metal." Especially not "Going to California."
I have the same problem with New Order. When I hear their major singles, I have to think of who covered the song (Orgy? Frenté!? Nobody I know of?) before I can name it ("Blue Monday," "Bizarre Love Triangle," "True Faith"). This process could work for Led Zeppelin, I guess: Puff Daddy's (I think that's the right name time-wise) "Come With Me" = "Kashmir" Fleming and John's "Winter Wonderland" = "Misty Mountain Hop" There have to be others, but I'm blanking on them at the moment. Sorry!
How about Beastie Boys - Rhymin' and Stealin = When the Levee Breaks? ...Or something, I don't remember exactly. I do know theres a Zep song or two on License to Ill.
Over the hills and far away. That has got to be one of the best Zep Songs Also Dye maker, thats the only song my wife likes, and thats the only reason I know the name of that song
It is one of the tougher bands to remember b/c many song titles are not reflective of the song. I was born in the early 70's, but off the top of my head I remember: Trampled Under Foot Fool in the Rain D'yer Mak'er Living Loving Maid Misty Mountain Whole Lotta Love Rock And Roll All My Love Dancin Days Ramble On Dazed and Confused ....and they are not even my favorite band.
thats how I pronounce it anyway..fowl-boy Zeppelin being considered "metal" is one of those misclassifications that some people do just because they were one of the first to use song characteristics that had never been used in popular music before. In a weird sort of way...what Zeppelin did eventually led to the style of music called metal that we know today. Ask any metal band from the late 70's and from the 80's and almost all of them where influenced in one way or the other by Zep. noone has mentioned one of my favprites... Lemon Song Squeeze me baby, till the juice runs down my leg. Squeeze me baby, till the juice runs down my leg. The way you squeeze my lemon, I'm gonna fall right out of bed. Dyer Maker The Song Remains the Same Black Dog Rock n Roll Goin to Cali(great call codell.I thought you didnt really care much about music?) Communication Breakdown Ramble On and of course the classics... Stairway and Whole Lotta Love Greatest. Band.Ever
A few I can recall.. The Immigrant Song Good Times Bad Times Communication Breakdown Stairway to Heaven What Is And What Should Never Be Battle of Evermore Rock and Roll Kashmir Achilles Last Stand
