Cleveland beat the Magic 107-80 in the NBA debut of LeBron James. He had 14pt, 7reb, and 6ast...and one highlight dunk. Well, almost - he was the one being dunked on. Orlando's Britton Johnsen (a Utah grad) stole the ball from James at midcourt in the 3rd quarter and proceeded to flush it home with his right hand over LeBron. Other players of note... Darius Miles: 15pt Carlos Boozer: 15pt Keith Bogans (Orl): 24pt Reece Gaines: 16pt (5-9 shooting), 5ast http://www.nba.com/magic/news/Pepsi_Pro_Summer_League_Game_-79855-66.html
Those are pretty good numbers for his first summer game. Not great, but actually better than I expected.
Not bad for an 18 year old kid. Im curious to see the 6 dimes that he had. Were they magic like, similar to what we saw him do in high school or just plain passes. I cant wait till the highlights tonight, this kid amazing.
According to the writeups, LJ made a sweet no-look pass to Diop and had a wicked dunk within the first few minutes of the game.
They just showed some highlights on the local news, and of course all the attention was on Lebron, but Darius Miles was really impressive in this game! It was HIM doing the Magic-like passes and stuff, not Lebron! I guess we're not gonna trade him afterall!
Talked to a friend at the game...says LeBron looked alright except for being dunked over by Britton Johnsen, but his defense needs work. He was guarded by and himself guarded Keith Bogans, who exploded for 24pt. It may be an indication of LBJ needing work, Bogans being that good, or nothing really. I think I'll choose the 2nd of those! Box score: http://www.proexposure.com/stories/0709c.cfm
Anyone know that site that is all about the summer league? I can't find it, if any one knows it could you post a link?
I watched highlights. He impressed me. He isn't bad at all. But he isn't great. I mean...the guy who was guarding him was like 6-3. He's like 6-8. It was impressive to me because he had 10 points in the first quarter..plus 4 rebounds and 3 assists. But he ended with just 14 points..... The competition is too easy. The Magic don't have any young 1st or 2nd year talents... Eddie Griffin owned the summer league too, right? Well....just like Yao Ming. At first, he will do a lot of incredible stuff and surprise people. But then people will study his play and find ways to stop him and shut him down. He's good to me. HMM...he does walk up the court just like Steve though...
Maybe LeBron's just teasing everyone and giving us all just a slight glimpse into his game. The competition is too easy, he doesn't feel like putting on his best stuff yet. Maybe he'll explode for 30 15 and 10 in the Cavs season opener. Realistically, this is a very good start for LJ. He's getting Steve-esque numbers; while he isn't dominating the game, he certainly has the court presence to know what needs to be done. This kid should be great, even if he doesn't live up to the hype.
I got to see this dunk live! and it was nastyer than the highlights oh daaamn it was sick! also lebron got d'd by bogans and air balled a shot! LOL... an then reece gaines crossed em up good! but missed the layup so it didnt make highlights! Lebrons passing skills where nice indeed. Not magic yet but thos epasses looked good! my fav was him and miles dunk contest before the game during warm ups... him boozer, and miles... he threw it off the glass and banged it home with 2 hands! then miles totally killed em and bron knew it so he did a layup and the crowd booed him , LOL.... crazy night! BTW bron don't do autos! He gave me a picture with him tho
I believe LBJ's deal with Upper Deck won't let him do autographs. http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2003/0521/1557431.html
I could only see the highlights although he looked good. I thought it was strange that basiclly the starting line up of the Cavs were playing againist a bunch of scrubs.
this threw me too . . . I looked at the highlights and all I could thinking was IS EVERY CAV IN THE SUMMER LEAGUE? This was an NBA team vs a CBA team Rocket River
