Anyone else happy Lebron and the Cavs didn't make the playoffs? I'm almost feel guilty for being happy his team failed to make it, but I've just grown tired of the hype surrounding him. I have to admit, he is one helluva a player. I just like to see guys who've been in the league longer get theirs first.
kidd, VC, all have had theirs. i was pulling for lebron and the cavs actually. i'm curious to see how a 19 year old kid would respond to all that pressure on his shoulders. he deserves to be there.
It's too bad his team didn't make it; I would have liked to see them get to the playoffs. I don't think he shouldn't be liked because of all the hype around him. The thing is, he deserves it (the hype). The man is flat-out amazing. He's not just one of these punk kid that comes in outa high school struggling to find himself and one of these guys that doesn't understand how the game is supossed to be played. No, no, he is an excellent talent, and he does get it; he's one of the top 15 players in the league already at his young age, and will be the best before long.
Evidentally, he did not respond well. No one deserves to be there. Everybody have to earn their places there.
I'm happy because the Nets will give Miami a better challenge than the Cavs. LeBron will eventually get his. This season will build character.
TAKE THAT, all you media ass kissing fools!! I do like Lebron, but I wish all the media would stop kissing his ass and his same ole played out dunk...
I won't miss him in the playoffs - but only because of the hype machine. David Stern has got to recognize that LeBron and the Cavaliers is not the salvation that he is looking for. Look to the Southwest young David - a pair of stars are rising, and they are pulling a team of misfits with them.
I don't really get the LeBron hate. He's never come across as anything but a class guy and he's got a stellar game. Hate the media, not the player. Gilbert, Usher, and the rest of the owners needed this as a reality check. Play around with your new toy after the season, not as soon as you walk through the door. I've said it before and will say it again, the NBA needs to institute a by-law that makes ownership transfers limited to the summer. Evan
So hype and youth bother you? Did you mind when Yao made the playoffs last year? I mean, it was his 2nd year, just like LeBron now, and he came in with loads of hype around him. If you make the playoffs, you've earned it, simple as that. He plays the game the right way and we need more players like him in this league. The hype isn't his fault. Is he supposed to tone down his game so that people pay less attention to him? BTW, has he really had a bunch of hype around him this season? It's not like ESPN has a "LeBron Watch" where they pop in during other games to show you how he's doing.
I am very happy Nets made the playoff and Cavs didn't. I admit Lebron James is a great player RIGHT NOW, though he can't play defense, and he will no doubt be league's MVP one day, but whoever be portrayed best player ever, people love to see them fall. Lebron not only has to live up to the hype, he has to exceed the hype, on both personal stats and team achievement. Talking about the hype, it is true that the overhype is not his fault, but he did benefit from it, so that is just the way it is. All in all, Lebron is a young player and has a long career ahead of him. So I rather watching Vince and Kidd Vs Shaq and Wade than Cavs being swept in first round.
Agreed...It's not that I dislike LJ, but "King" this or that, its ridiculous for someone that hasn't don't anything besides on a personal level...The media is firmly suctioned on his ass...
Well, obviously Lebron didn't "earn it" then because he's still sitting at home. I said he is a helluva player. One of the best. Yes, there has been a bunch of hype. Watch any ESPN highlight of their games and you wouldn't know any other players on that team exist. I agree, it's not his fault. It's ESPN and TNT and the like. Can you imagine the "SHAQ VS LEBRON" commercials we would have had to endure?
one more win by the cavs (or one less loss for the nets, for that matter) and you'd being saying differently.
id rather have a young upstart like lebron in there than a wife beater like jason kidd, a guy who quits on his team and forces a trade like vince carter (t-mac's cool though) and a punk like richard jefferson who makes fun of guys who have kidney transplants. lebron gets alot of hype and attention, but i think he is worthy of it. he is an amazing player at 19. even if he has already reached his ceiling, which i dont believe he has, than he is already a great player. he seems like a good guy, intelligent and doesnt get into any trouble, which isnt the case w/ alot of young players these days. i really dont care if he got in or not, i just dont like the nets.
I didn't say he earned it. That was about your point of wanting older players to get their shot at the playoffs before LeBron.
