I know this is old news but it is f**king ridiculous to put up a top 10 video with most layups/dunks actually traveling, including the top ones. http://broadband.nba.com/cc/playa.p...cand_james_l_2008.asx&video=blank&nbasite=nba And here is a super-travel game-winner for Lebron. http://youtube.com/watch?v=lhbM6uuCt74
#10 looked like a travel, but if you rewatch it, he didn't have the ball while his feet shuffled under the hoop, so no travel. The rest of them all looked legit to me, not sure what you're seeing there.
almost all players who rely on speed/athleticism take extra steps when driving, move their pivot foot after receiving the ball, or use their off-hand/arm to distance themselves from the defender. manu, lebron, tony parker, devin harris, chris paul.. all routinely commit the aforementioned offenses. don't want to be a homer but come to think of it, tmac is probably one of the few superstars who really doesn't cut corners like mentioned. i guess he is simply long enough to not have to force his game.
You should rewatch all of them. no.10 is a no-brainer travel. no.9 is legit no.8 from the top angle, it can be clearly seen that he run for 3 steps before the dunk no.7 is legit no.6 is block no.5 is 3-pointer no.4 is legit no. 2 from the last angle, it can be clearly seen that he run for 3 steps before the dunk no. 1 also from the last angle, it can be clearly seen that he run for 3 steps before the dunk
I can tell this exchange will go nowhere. Lebron has gotten away with travelling before, but all of these particular highlights are legit, no travelling. But, believe what you wanna believe, no one can stop you. <--- self-pwn3d for taking the bait and posting in yet another travel-debate thread.
10 looked like a travel after a couple replays. The rest are all legal. 8 was your standard "hop step" move. In 2 and 1, he was taking a step as he was picking up his dribble. They usually let you take two more after that.
The youtube one was definitely a travel. landed on two feet and then moved the right forward a little bit and then the left foot A LOT! Refs just didn't catch the right foot moving forward probably. Refs can't catch everything when it's at full speed.
they call travels in the nba? anyways...i'm pretty sure just about everyone in the nba and even college technically carry the ball...but thats not called...no one wants to see a bunch of travel/palming violations.
palming is different but they do call traveling in NBA. When you watch most other great players like Jordan, Kobe, TMac, you rarely see those traveling. Lebron is different, though. He is the chosen one, lol.
If #2 or #1 are traveling, then every dunker in the NBA routinely travels. You're allowed to take a step as you are dribbling then 2 more after that.
Can't get the YouTube video here at work, but the Top 10 video doesn't have a single travel in it. Even #10 is fine, because he stepped/shuffled before the ball bounced back up to him, then caught it and dunked it. He can take as many steps as he wants as long as the ball is out of his hands.
the youtube vid was a travel but nothing in the nba.com highlights was. stop hating and enjoy the man's basketball talent. pretty sick plays though, lebron is definitely tops in the league when it comes to spectacular individual plays.
#10 is travel, but he was pushed. So it should have been a foul. #1 looked like a travel, one more step than the rule allows. The youtube one is definitely travel. He did a jump-stop, then took a step (a small step but a clear step, not just a shuffling of the foot) with his right foot, then took another step with his left foot.
Tell me which one in Kobe's highlights is: http://broadband.nba.com/cc/playa.p...and_bryant_k_2008.asx&video=blank&nbasite=nba Believe it or not, Lebronze does travel in most of his highlight dunks.
Also TMac Mix, please tell me when TMac runs three steps before the dunk. http://youtube.com/watch?v=x5ICyV_VSPE Lebronze like three!
can't see the nba.com one at work, but the youtube one is clearly a travel.. but he was also wailing about being fouled. I'd imagine maybe they let the travel go in lieu of not calling a foul? Whatever, it's not craaaazy bad. Hop step and then a big step basically. Shuffle before that if you want, but that's kinda fast for a ref to see in traffic. It happens. About the same as Jeff Green for Georgetown in terms of bad-call-ness
aah, a Kobe groupie. What a surprise. Why do so many Kobe fans feel the need to hate on LeBron? hmm...
