An attempt at making it look like its not about trophies and just winning...as long as they have a top record and are putting up solid numbers they'll both have a good shot.

They'll both have a good shot at being in the top 5, but I really doubt one of them is going to win MVP in the next couple years. Several years from now, if Wade has slowed down considerably, Lebron can probably start winning MVPs again.

Everyone knows if they need a bucket late it's Wade that'll get the ball. But at least he's acknowledging the obvious.

It depends how well the Heat do in the regular season. If they end up with the best record by a wide margin, I think LeBron could win it a 3rd year in-a-row or Wade could take it. Amar'e and Dwight Howard have strong chances if their teams keep rolling. When it comes to winning the MVP award, I don't Rose is there yet.

So he is prematurely explaining why he nor Wade will win it? Why?

LeBron and Co. say that all they care about it winning. Between his rants, his "what should I do campaign?", and now this I can't help but wonder if all LeBron and Co. care about is media coverage. Why doesn't the guy just shut up and win? If he did that, then idiot detractors from the Heat (like myself) would have no fuel to their fire...

He's probably right. There's enough debate over "who's team is it" that they'll split the voting between them.

NBA players have a responsibility to talk to the media and answer their questions. That responsibility increases with their star power.

if you want him to shut up, tell the media to stop asking questions. if you want him to not talk, tell the media stop hyping him up. if you want him to be quiet, tell ESPN and all the media to stop doing their job.

Not only that, this is from a tweet from a writer! There is no indication of context whatsoever. As someone admitted, the vitriolic hatred of anything LeBron is truly idiotic. Because of his actions over the summer, my opinion of LeBron is way down. But the knee-jerk reaction here by some is pathetic.

exactly. if the heat have the best record running away (the spurs may be close but they are entering a tougher part of their schedule now), those 2 will be among the top 5 if they keep it up.

i just think lebron has a better chance b/c his all-around stats are better, and lebron has more "featured" time among the big 3, and the best perimeter defender is always on him.

also, wade will miss a few more games. lebron has been the most consistent player in terms of production the entire year.

regardless, i love for amare to win it though. everyone thought he couldn't do jack without nash and he's proving he's a star in his own right.

"Attempt"? ... It's true, dude. Did you actually still think that Lebron or Wade cared that much about MVP trophies after this move? For all the crap that these two (especially Lebron) got this summer, that was the main reason that I retained a lot of respect for his decision -- because it showed that he valued winning above his personal legacy.

Although in either case, he's still sort of building his personal legacy and reaching for selfish goals (just different selfish goals), but it's just interesting to see where his priorities lie.

He loves the attention. He is a diva. He welcomes it. If he didn't, he could say no, no comment, I don't know, the list goes on with short answer responses. He made the comment that follows the no so that we all throw him and Wade their own little pitty parade.

As for the comments on that the source is twitter, are you doubting the validity of it? I see no reason to say LeBron didn't say this, what are your reasons to say that he didn't? This comment aside, LeBron has made many asinine comments in the past. Heck, his contraction comment and follow up to it was dumb as is. I need not go further.

Good god. A beat writer tweets a single sentence quote (with no context, as previously mentioned) and you come up with all of this.

I think that says it all.
