I didn't see it. Was Strawberry amazing on D? Or is James ready to take up the mantle of NBA athlete who bricks his way to stardom? 8-24 in high school is just pathetic! I really want to see a new star who can shoot.

lebron is gonna be a bust, i use to be huge on this guy until i actually saw him on tv, i mean he's not even that great in the high school games, he would be a great college player, but since he goin straight to the NBA, he gonna be a bust at least for a few years, i feel he should go to the university of texas, but that is biased reasoning haha, oh well

The first game, he was outstanding. He was the biggest guy there, but he is still pretty good. The second game, he was 8-24. He missed all 9 jump shots. But he is still going to be good once he develops. He's only in high school. He's not going to make a huge impact...not as big as Yao at least. But he's going to be good. Maybe a bust...

    Anyone seen "THE DUNK" yet?

AKRON, Ohio -- LeBron James scored a game-high 40 points and had eight steals and six rebounds in St. Vincent-St. Mary's 97-60 victory over Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph on Tuesday night.

But none of those totals held a candle to his seven dunks -- including a between-the-legs jam late in the third quarter of St. Vincent-St. Mary's first game as the top-ranked team in USA Today's Super 25 rankings.

That particular dunk drew a standing ovation from a crowd of 4,000-plus fans.

"That was probably the best dunk I've ever had in a game," the 6-foot-7 James told the Akron Beacon-Journal after the game. "I do that dunk all the time in practice and my teammates are always saying, 'You never do it in a game.' When I got the ball at halfcourt, I knew what I was going to do."

James stole the ball, took off just inside the free-throw line and, while in flight, he brought the ball between his legs with his left hand and slammed it through the basket with his right.

"Oh, it'll be the No. 1 play on the ESPN highlights," James, considered the nation's top-rated high school player, told Beacon-Journal.

"(LeBron) does some spectacular things out there and that's what the fans come to see," Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph coach Dave Wojciechowski said.

The Irish improved to 9-0. St. Vincent-St. Mary senior forward Romeo Travis didn't start because he broke a team rule, the newspaper reported. But Travis played 17 minutes and finished with 17 points and seven rebounds.

It's funny. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is talking about LeBron James. Even Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant didn't get this much hype while they were still in HIGH SCHOOL.

This is amazing. By the way, if anyone here ever wants the local scoop on LeBron or St.V, I can probably tell you.

Oh, this'll be a No. 1 example on the HUBRIS highlights.

I'm glad he's skipping college, because I still enjoy college basketball.

Part of why the dunk was so amazing is that the lights in the gym had just gone out.

JUST inside the free throw line???? He was JUST about 6 feet inside the free throw line.

Honestly, that dunk was not that impressive. I saw Kobe as a rookie in the slam dunk contest do it much better, same with Carter on several occasions.

What makes it astounding is that he did it in a game.

Download video files from Kazaa and try to play them.
Or go to ESPN's media gallery and try there.

Right, with no defender in the same zip code as he was. I played with a guy in Junior College that identically performed the "cradle" dunk that MJ used to do. I've seen 360's perfomed by several guys in games. Hell, I've seen some crazy dunks done in half court games at the local rec. where I play on Sundays. Lots of guys can do the between the legs dunk, and lots have probably done it in an actual game. But since James is the phenom, it's getting lots of hype.

Again, my opinion is that it was not that impressive, and is even being exaggerated in the media. If he HAD taken off "just inside" the free throw line, it would have raised my eye brows.

Remind us all of how many times we have seen it done in an NBA game? For as many break away dunks with no one in the same zip code as them...

    I cant remember ever.

Now tell me how many people that have done that dunk (like Carter, Rider, and Kobe) did it in H.S. ... during a game.
