LeBron James, front, attempts to keep the ball away from Lamar Odom on Sunday, July 27, 2003 in Los Angeles. James had 28 points helping the rookies to a 127-123 victory. James was selected 1st overall in the 2003 Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. As time goes on, the LeBron haters will have to eat crow. LeBron learned (and is learning) the game the right way.
Yeah, most analyst think that Melo will win the ROY. Even LeBron gave him props on winning the thing. Could be true.
In the end though, I think it'll turn out like this year's ROY. I think Yao is a much better player than Amare. Yao has more potential but supposedly didn't get as much done this year. Down the line, though, I think Yao will have a MUCH bigger impact than Amare. Although I think Melo's game is more polished right now and he has a better chance of winning the ROY, LeBron has more potential (like Yao) and will likely be a better player down the line.
True, that the difference between Yao and Amare. Yao is a "main-man." While Amare is a #2 or #3 guy. Yao is a main attraction. Amare is a side-show. LeBron and Yao will bring the same amount of clout/attention from the world media. LeBron and Yao are big time. Not just local, not just national. But world! I'm glad that someone like Melo has entered the league. He very polished. He reminds me of a more explosive version of Shareef Abdul-Rahim.
Wow, so elegantly and efficiently done. Can anyone else in the NBA do that? I mean, to keep the ball away from Lamar Odom?
Actually Melo reminds me of Paul Pierce. A big strong guy that somehow just finds a way to get the ball into the hole. Not extremely quick or flashy but very hard to guard.
Look at those guns...for an 18 year old kid right out of high school, Lebron's body looks more than ready for the NBA; he's built stronger than many NBA players. Kind of like Amare Stoudemire last year who also was well developed physically. Lebron'll have a tougher time though as a guard, since Amare's responibility was basically just to bang down low and get boards. Lebron's twice as thick as Kobe and T-mac at the same age though.
And he's twice as thick as KG is now Aside from his "court vision" and "playmaking abilities" and all that other garbage scouts throw out there, another factor that went into him being projected as basketball's savior was the fact that he was very well built. And the kid's only 18; there's no telling how much more height he'll put on, or how much more muscle mass, etc, etc. He has the complete package that Kobe/TMac didn't have at his age, which has people salivating at the idea of what could be.
