I hope that I did'nt give someone blueballs, by putting Lebron and Yao's name in the same sentence, but this thread is only to discuss the possibilitie(or lack thereof) of luring Lebron to houston in 2007. I read about how the MAGIC may be stockpiling cash to get him, so I figure that it is not that ridiculous to think that he might want to come and play with YAO(the best center in the league for years to come).
Lebron and Yao playing together will look a lot like McGrady and Yao playing together. Since we've already got that pair, it may be easier to stick with that. Now, if it were McGrady, Lebron and Yao, that be a different -- though impossible -- story.
I dont see Lebron as mid level guy, I see him as a force that will dominate the league. the rockets will have to move some players(Mcgrady), but thats business. this is Lebron freakin James.
This is xcomp paging Maintenance, we have a faulty sarcasm detector in section 3. Request assistance, over.
Lebron is a better version of Mcgrady, and he has more healthy years in front of him. I still like Mcgrady, and realize how dominant he CAN be, but if we have any chance to get Lebron, we should jump on it, even if that means trading Mcgrady.
There's no chance for Lebron in 2007. We don't have any money and he'll sign an extension this summer. It's the smart thing to do. And he's still so young that he can opt out of his Max Extension in 2011 and still only be 26-27 years old. Now in 2011 we might be able to make a run at him, since T-mac's contract would have run out in 2010 and who knows what would have happened to him or his salary expectations by then (i.e. would he still be on the team. would he take a pay cut to sign some more players. would he even be worth that much in his laters years. etc).
NO. Yao will end up like Big Z, allowed to make couple of shots in opening quarter, while LeBron picking up his assists number; doesn't see the ball again in the next two quarters, while LeBron picking up his points; is required to step up big during crunch time, to complete LeBron's leadership to victory. No, thanks. I love to see Yao and TMac playing together, respecting each other, and caring for each other.
You really sound like you're having an orgasm over there over "Lebron Freaking James!" (Wishful) thinking...I wish posters would stop starting stupid threads like this one
Man if we had Yao, McGrady and Lebron...I'd take on that 3 vs. 5 numbers anytime...throw in 2 other CBAers or NBA scrubs wonder how good our record would be..
with tmacs health, sometimes i wonder if that summer we should've traded steve to the cavs for the #1 pick. steves value was at an all time high. besides the tmac deal the rumored fall back for the rox was steve for hinrich and chandler. just to jar your memory of what we could've got for steve that summer. the cavs would've definitely thought about it. a young tripple double guy like steve. sells tickets, "the franchise", a new face for the team. coming off of a 47( i think ) win season in the west. this guy can turn an eastern team around for sure. at least thats what the magic and bulls were thinking, so why not the cavs? even if it cost us cato or mobley, sure! thats what we paid for tmac and it's freaking lebron who is coming out of high school and never played a game in the NBA in his life. could've would've should've. at the end of the day tmac was the superstar and lebron was a high school kid, so we made the right choice at the time.
Then tell me how we're going to sign Lebron. Or change the thread title to "Trade T-mac for Lebron", before we laugh at your ignorance. In 2007 Lebron is a restricted Free Agent and we won't have any cap space. It'll be IMPOSSIBLE to sign him in 2007. So shut the **** up when someone is trying to drop a little knowledge on you.
Give it up. The young man is having a huge orgasm over LeBron, it'll be over soon enough. I mean, anyone who breaks out into such a passionate defense over that MLE joke has to be ... Lord have mercy. "IT'S LEBRON FREAKING JAMES!" heh.
They were talking about LBJs extension during the Cavs/Bulls game, he signed a one year extension last year and he said he can't wait to sign his 75M/5 year extension this summer. He likes Ohio and it certainly isn't hurting his endorsement deals being in Cleveland either. I agree though trading T-Mac for LBJ, I would do in a heartbeat.
