    Oh man, anything but leather.

    1. Sticks to skin
    2. More expensive
    3. Easy to rip up (e.g. pets)
    4. Farty noises!

    I like... both. :D

    Fabric is more comfortable.
    Leather stays cleaner.

    Nuthin but leather.

Years of caressing comfort. There are a lot of different grades of leather. Bite the bullet and go high grade (no Fingers type stuff).

I have heard a farty noise or two in my 15 years on this set of sofa's and love seats but so far there have been no serious accusations or repercussions. Besides, if you do fart, you can say, no ah, that was just the leather.

Mine all fold out to recliners, you can have 5 people reclining after Thanksgiving lunch.

    1. Sticks to skin..............? do you sit in your furniture sweaty?
    2. More expensive.............last longer
    3. Easy to rip up (e.g. pets).........can be repaired though I admit I have some cat scratches
    4. Farty noises!..........(see above)

Let's just say sometimes you want to put on some Barry White, and a leather couch can ruin the mood for reasons #1 and #4, especially combined.

Could someone define quality leather? Or is it something you just go by feel? Any namebrands to look for?

If you have pets or allergy problem, stay away from fabric...

Leather has a better look and lasts longer, and is of higher quality.

We have leather in our living room and cloth upstairs in the playroom, but we want to replace the cloth with leather upstairs too.

Does anyone else have "Italian Leather Sofa" in their head now (by the band Cake)? I would post the video, but it stinks.

If you have kids, leather. They'll be spilling crap on your couch for years, and you don't want that to be fabric.

Wood is also good for this.

    Edit: Where's the poll?

i love the microfiber, have leather, next will be micro, you get the benefits of the cleanability of leather and the softness of fabric.

I like leather and hate fabric couches for the itchy factor, but I had to bite the bullet and get a fabric couch for the game room recently because the wife wanted something different than leather..

Also, what's the deal with tons of furniture stores selling that microfiber or "micro suede" stuff now? Does anyone else think that microfiber looks and feels odd?

Lady_Di, you're asking a bunch of guys... so of course I think leather is going to be the overwhelming answer.

Because leather makes you a man! :D

If you want to find a good buy on a sectional or leather couch goto the Macy's outlet by UH central across from the HOV entrance.
