Last year, I was constantly pissed-off by the lack of Rockets game aired on DirectTV. I believe every DTV subscriber know the blackout rules. If not, here they are: I, a resident of Beaumont and a huge Rockets fan, would love to have every game access, as do the people living just 80 miles west of Beaumont (H-Town), to the Rockets. I'm just want to know if anyone feels my pain.
Hey, welcome aboard , i know exactly what you are talking about, (living in Port Arthur myself). It's nothing you can do about it, they already talked about this matter in the past. Basically, we got caught in the middle of the black-out rule. You can check with www.kfdm.com (channel 6) for the Rockets games' schedule , normally they will show about 20 games on channel 18 Timer warner cable. Yes i can feel your pain dude, huge huge huge Rockets fan myself.....
I have no idea what the black out rules are and basically don't care. I'm going into my 5th NBALP season on DTV and I get all the Rockets action I can handle. IIRC, there are maybe 5 games per season which aren't broadcast. A lot of it is usually more to do with the Spurs' proximity to Austin.
yeah, i feel your pain, because i'm from Port Arthur...... BUT... i live in Washington D.C. now and I catch every Rockets game on the league pass or national coverage.......
Dude, You can always register your Direct TV unit at another location, and get the channels. If your Mom lives in Iowa, have the bills sent there, and register the unit there. Problem solved. DD
smart guy... da dakota.. i didn't know you could do that, especially since its satellite and it picks up the locas reception, no matter where you bill is sent..... but hay, it's worth a try
I believe that people in Dallas and Austin use the same satelite signals as the ones in Port Arthur, the unit uses the zip code YOU put in to put the limits on it. I am fairly certain that is how it works, if you give it an Austin Address, you will have all the games. DD
EDC is correct. When I had Direct TV, and had a card that would allow all the channels, it avoided all blackout rules. The satelite pipes all the channels down and the receiver decides what to black out. Here is the kicker...buy the unit in AUSTIN, and then install it in Port Arthur.... You will get all the local Austin channels, but you will also get all the Rocket games. DD
No problems in Dallas. Get all the Rocket games, and they blackout the Maverick games. Good combination!
Yep, I pay 5 or 10 dollars extra a month for a fourth reciever that I sent to my brother's family in Dallas as a christmas gift. Now his kids get all my programming and Austin local channels. I just have to avoid the spice channel
I dont understand that crappy rule. I live in L.A., but the Houston at GS.Warrior game were always blacked out on me. I wish they could come up a list games that will be shown for each area, instead of arbitary block-out, and pointing to that rule. I am sure sometimes there were technical errors to blackout games that shouldnt be.
What if i ask my cousin in Houston buy it for me, would they program the Houston local channel include channel 51?
Dadakota, thanks for answer my question, but i'm more confused.. So if i'm going to buy a sattelite thru Direct TV & register under my cousin name in Houston and bring it to Port Arthur, can i watch all the Rockets game on channel 51 or will it get black out? I just want to make sure that i can catch channel 51 from Port Arthur. (i dont care about the black out rules for TNT, ESPN.. as long as i can watch the Rockets on channel 51 thru direct TV) Thanks,
