I live in Round Rock Texas, and get my digital cable from Time Warner in Austin Texas. I called Time Warner to order my NBA league pass like I do every year. They informed me this year that some Dallas Maverick games and some Houston Rocket games could also be blacked out even if they are not playing the Spurs. Obviously this is a huge problem. I do not understand why the league pass would do that since I am not in the Rocket local viewing area. They could not tell me how many Rocket games would be blacked out just that there is a possibility that some games maybe blacked out. I have emailed NBA league pass to see if they can clear up my confusion. I know that there are a lot of Austin fans that visit the site. Has anyone else heard this?
that's another thing that keeps me from getting league pass. paying that much money, they should not black out a single game. sorry to hijack dude.
They say this every year and every year all the games show up. I wouldn't worry. They told me that last year and I never had a problem.
I feel your concern. I can't say for sure what'll happen, but I can say that every year that I call and ask about blackouts, they ALWAYS say there will be some. And there has yet to be one that wasn't Rox vs. Spurs, or nationally televised. I don't think I'd worry that much about it. But I'd hate to be wrong.
I also live in Round Rock and ordered NBA LP, but I wasn't told any Mavs or Rockets games would be blacked out!
I think they are talking about the games that will be shown on NBA TV....the League Pass blacks those out....but if you order the sports package...an extra $2 a month, you get them all, and I have had NBA LP every year since it's inception here in Austin, and the most games that I have missed is 2...both San Antonio games....but usually ZERO.... DD
They've told me that every year too - for the last 5-7 years.... said that with the disclaimer, they weren't liable if games were blacked out - so we can't ask for our money back. I live west of Austin, and have regulary gotten every game - except the spurs. Asking Time Warner to let us know what we're buying before we give them money sure doesn't sound too unreasonable.
Yep and all the Spurs games have been on TV lately too.....mostly on KNVA or such...so we usually get ALL of them....and with the new internet access, I can guarantee I will get them all. DD
Dear Confused: Please contact the League Pass Central and speak with someone in Wholesale Sales. Tell him/her what the Time Warner is trying to pull in Austin. Last year we had the same problem in San Antonio. From my complaint I found that Warner was not allocating the correct number of channels to League Pass, as their contract with League Pass stipulates. They were forced to comply with their contract and I had no more trouble, Y
I've had NBA LP for four years now and have never gotten Spurs vs Rockets games, except of course when they are nationally televised.
guys just wondering.. im in upstate ny and i just ordered league pass.. so would i get to see most rockets games? (someone pointed out earlier it has 8 channels everynight? so does it mean it shows at least 8 games a night?) would greatly appreciate it if someone could clear up my confusion here.
Based on my experience for the last 10+ years...between League Pass, NBATv, regular network and cable channels, you should get them all. Shouldn't make a difference that you're in upstate NY.
Following up the previous post, from what I remember, it's usually somewhere between 8 and 14 games a night. Doesn't mean that will always be the case (because some nights there are only, say, 4 games going on in the league). But most of the time you see something on each channel, and some back to back.
I'll just echo what DD and Cohen said. I've been getting LP for 4 or 5 years now (or a hundred... it feels like it when I pay for it!), and the biggest difference, one that makes me angry when I think about it (I try not to think about it, lol), is the NBA taking games away from LP and putting them on their goofy NBATV, games that were on LP, before, and squeezing a couple of bucks more a month out of the fans (that would be us, folks), so they can see what they were already paying to see, if you get my drift. The NBA is a money hungry, slimy organization that is about dollars, first and foremost. The fans, the players and the coaches, with their staffs, sit way back in their line of priorities. The one saving grace the league has is that the game is arguably the greatest game on earth, played by the most incredible athletes to stroll around the planet, and coached, as hard as it may be to believe at times, by some of our most brilliant minds. (and several dumb asses as well) Otherwise, the NBA sucks. The game is transcendent.
Wait wait, by subscribing to the NBALP, don't you get the NBATV by default? At least that was the case for me last season.
I love the deal, because I would actually pay extra to have all of the Spurs games blacked out. It's wonderful, it's like they don't exsits!
