That's exactly what I'm saying. I use real player because for some reason people in China love it as a software, and most Chinese shows torrents are in rmvb format. So I finally update to the latest version because I was sick and tired of a box popping up asking me to do it everytime I play a real file.

A couple of days later, when I was looking at a embedded youtube molvie, a small popup came up next to the video and said "download video", after clicking that I downloaded the video........ and I was like WTF, AWESOME.

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tLrv0i1Vyj8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tLrv0i1Vyj8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Basically show you how to do it, ignore all the crap infront of it, just download the free version and it'll show you how to download stuff you stream.... once again AWESOME

Doesn't firefox have an extension that lets you download them already?

Yeah, I haven't paid much attention to how RealPlayer does things, but I've been downloading Youtube videos (and videos from other sites) for a long time. I think it was one of the first extensions I got for Firefox.

edit: The one I'm using is called DownloadHelper. Might be others too.

There's also plenty of websites where you enter the youtube url (and many other video sites) and it will give you a link to download the video to your computer, usually in .flv format. Like KeepVid for example.

Just tested this on a couple of other streaming sites, and they seem to work well there too. Too bad I was slow in knowing this since I only use IE, but it's still awesome to me.

Been using realplayer to download clips of sites for a while. Whats cool is it tries to keep the title of the youtube clips instead of for example "11242415419686851.flv" for "get_video.flv" like some other youtube savers do.

Plus it'll download regular site clips that are in avi, wmv, divx and other type formats. Like the clips on NBA.com for instance. It can also save live streams! But saves them in "IVR" format whatever that is...I saved a whole Rockets game off the broadband NBA.com once.

    Yes. Download Helper. FTW.

It now even lets you save it as whatever format you want, all in one step.

This is old news about RealPlayer. RealPlayer 11 came out over a year ago.

Last couple of times I tried to do this, it didn't work.
