http://sports.sina.com.cn/k/2002-06-21/21280845.shtml Simon Chan, a friend of Wang working out along side him, says Wang now weighs 264 pounds. He is also playing pickup games with Austin Croshere, Nuggets' Zendon Hamilton, and a 17 year old high school phenom named Charlie something. Sorry, I couldn't figure out what English translation of the last name. HE also say Wang is focusing on footwork, quickness of turning, etc. And Wang eats five meals a day to increase protein intake. As for where Wang wants to end up next season, the article didn't provide any answers and only says he is probably playing for Golden States in the summer league.
From everything I've heard he would really perfer to play on the West Coast, Golden State in particular. He has a HUGE fan base in the Bay Area and could really help that team. The only problem is that he's a Restricted Free Agent so if Golden State wants his they will have to pay more than 4.7 mil to get him because Cuban has already said that he will match any offer for Wang up to the exception. So the big question is how bad doe Golden State want him, and what would they be willing to offer to get him if they don't want to pay him more than 4.7 mil a year. In all likelyhood Wang will sign with Dallas again for 1 year, and then do a sign & trade next year to G.S.
thanks for the info, Shanghai_boy, and welcome to the board. I hope Wang goes to Golden State. Maybe he'll get more playing time there.
He had an interview with Marc Stein (NBA Beat Writer) yesterday, and Wang was saying that he wants to return to Dallas, and is expecting to work out a contract very soon with the Mavs. He thinks he has improved enough, and worked on the things that Nellie wanted him to work on in order to get more PT this year. He also said that his relationship with the Chinese Gov is great and that he fully expects them to allow him to play in the NBA this year. Though there are things they do need to discuss, and work out.
