so... what are some of your latest DVD acquisitions? some of mine include: Apocalypse Now: Redux Casino Heavy Metal: Special Edition Sid & Nancy Fifth Element
big lebowski usual suspects special edition oceans eleven preorder LOTR monsters inc simpsons season 2 mr show season 1 and 2 royal tenebaums
I don't think I had bought any all year, but between yesterday and today, I used the $10 of $60 purchase at www.tower.com twice and ordered: Ocean's 11 Ali Serendipity and today: Memento Lone Star Training Day Four Weddings and a Funeral (Hey...it was less than ten bucks, and I needed to get over the $60 mark)
bleh. I'm so glad I just rented that one and didn't buy it. Here's a good site for cheap DVDs and they currently have free shipping and no sales tax in TX: Deep Discount DVD I preordered "Thursday", which comes out next week for only $13. It's a Tarantino-esque movie set in Houston starring Thomas Jane and Aaron Eckhart.
Eh...I'd rather a film be set somewhere else and filmed in Houston (eg: Robocop 2) than vice versa. I saw "Arlington Road" recently. Effective use of the city. ...to keep on topic, I'm assuming everyone here knows about: http://www.dvdpricesearch.com
That free shipping is a farce. I almost bought the Star Trek : TNG Season 1 and 2 dvd sets (yes, I'm admitting that) and noticed that their prices are up about $5-$7 apiece after the "free shipping". Grrr.... Anyway : http://www.dvdpricesearch.com is a good place to search for dvd pricing. EDIT : And of course edc beat me to the punch...
that's weird. are you sure you selected the free option and not the Priority mail option? my order had free shipping without any price increase.
Maybe I was just unlucky. The price for the item I wanted was something like $93 or so last week, it was $98 or so yesterday. This is just the base price without adding it to my cart (ie, no shipping). Maybe it's just coincidence and they increased the price because it was popular right when they started the free shipping. Anyway, I've bought several dvd's from them before and they're a good company. I've never really had a problem with them.
The price difference (in the second season box, at least) was probably due to the product actually coming out (Tuesday, May 7 to be precise). Many of the online places give you an extra percentage off if you preorder.
