Okay Ming will help our team, that is a given. He can score and he will give us another scoring option. He can play weakside defense and that is a plus. He can shoot over defenders, hit the three, and dribble and run the court well. Is he a defensive liablity, yes. Does our team need defense, yes. Can he post people up, no. Can he do anything that our backcourt can't already do, no? He will end up turning our squad into the Dallas Mavericks, destined for playoff medicority. What I propose in a squad w/ Odom, Butler, maybe Hilario, and maybe Kandi is greatness. A better squad than Sacramento in 2 years if we can get rid of the right contracts and work the new ones creatively. Everybody, please, listen to reason.

    C Kandi/ Cato
PF Griffin/Hilario/Mo T (get rid of this guy asap)
    SF Odom/Butler
    SG Mobley/2nd rounder
    PG Francis/Norris

If we are committed to getting this done, it will happen and that will get us a championship in 2 years. LISTEN TO REASON

its a nice idea, but butler will want to start after a couple of years. and neither mobley or odom will take the bench, period.

also, how do you play on getting this team together?

What was the point of posting this? I totally agree with you, but I'm sure someone will think Ming will turn into a stud and bring us the championship. It's all speculation. Are you trying to start a debate, because both sides have little evidence.
No one is a sure thing. It a risk either way. Everyone here seems to whine regardless of what happens. If Ming's a bust we'll hear it, if he's not there'll be something else to complain about. Rudy, Steve, Cuttino...It NEVER ends

Please this has been argued over and over again. Kandi Sucks and Odom has as many question marks or more than Ming. How do you propose we get Butler? Wheres Rice? How do you know Hilario wont be a bust? How can we afford to pay 2 centers that suck 16 or 17 million a year? Dude you need to listen to reason! The Rockets are going to China soon to work out a deal. If things don't work out we can still get a better deal than this one.:p

well here's how i do it. trade for odom, kandi, 8 and 12 if possible. i then trade the 12 and 15 and whatever filler we have left after the odom kandi deal for the number 4-5 pick and draft butler. and at 8 draft hilario. seems reasonable to me. you do have a point bout kandi and cato costing too much so trade cato. kandi has a higher upside. trading cato may help the cause a little

trade #1: Glenn Rice; #1; and Mo T if necessary for Odom; Kandi; #8; #12

trade #2: kenny thomas; #12; and #15 for the #4 or #5 pick (whichever it takes to get Butler)

and if you don't have to trade cato to get the picks we need dangle him out there for maybe a back up shooting guard or a second round draft pick

So Ming downgrades our defense, but Odom upgrades it? Odom is not a good defender.

What we need to do (if we draft Ming which is looking very likely) is try to get a defensive-minded 3 that can shoot the ball. Artest would be nice, he's not a great shooter but he's a tremendous defensive player and he gives us that extra intensity and toughness. It would be ideal if we could teach EG to handle the ball some and we could go with a 3/4 trio of EG, Kenny, and MoT. EG can shoot and will only improve and getting to have Kenny in there for his tough play and Mo for his big body would help out Ming.

I think EG will be a PF though and getting a SF in addition to Ming this offseason is very necessary.

You know people said the same thing about the Kings a few years as they do about the Mavs... The funny thing with teams is that as they grow and fail, they also learn and become better at the things that they weren't good at. To say the ridiculously talented Mavs are destined for mediocrity is a bit short-sighted.

We are drafting Ming! We are not trading the pick so spend your energy on some other trade scenario.
