I think it's pretty cool that they're doing this. And yeah, seemed like for the most part everything was officiated correctly at the end. Spoiler They refer to overtime as Q5...
For whatever it's worth, they actually seem to be hinting at THREE missed calls in that sequence, not two. In the description of LeBron fouling Harden, they reference how LeBron's pull forced Harden to "lose his pivot foot"... and that would be a travel. So yeah, take your pick... it was just an embarrassing moment for that official.
I think the best thing to come out of these reports is WHY fouls are called or not called. For example: While attempting to be vertical, Smith (HOU) jumps and turns into the James (CLE). Watching the game, I was pissed because Smith did go straight up. But since he turned mid-air its a block. Also, they have video links of every call. Awesome. Here's the video of that play. http://official.nba.com/last-two-minute-report/?gameNo=0021400883&eventNum=634 Unfortunately, all this will probably do is make me angrier at the refs.
Harden did not hook Lebron. Harden was just using his off arm as he always does and Lebron did a clever thing, which was a foul, by hooking him as if Harden initiated it. Even in the latter part of that sequence, Lebron looks at the ref like he's doing nothing while still holding onto him. It's part of Lebron's act. I can understand the no-call at first, since Harden tried to hold him off when he went passed him and Lebron using that to hook him and baiting him to get called for the offensive foul. The proceeding holding of Harden is a foul, plain and simple, there's no debate there.
Could you imagine these reports for the Blazers playoff series last year, I have a feeling this board would have been fuming.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>I know being an <a href="https://twitter.com/NBAOfficial">@NBAOfficial</a> is hard, but there's no excuse for calling this a 3-shot foul <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/GoToReplay?src=hash">#GoToReplay</a> <a href="http://t.co/GWfxkgQdBK">pic.twitter.com/GWfxkgQdBK</a></p>— Stephen Kauffman (@StephenKauffman) <a href="https://twitter.com/StephenKauffman/status/572211623206600704">March 2, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
The missed calls in the last 2 minutes of Cle vs Houston Not sure if it needs its own thread, but meh: http://official.nba.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2015/03/L2M-Mar1.pdf Overall there were 3 incorrect calls. 03:54.0 Harden (HOU) walks into space occupied by James (CLE). Contact escalates and should have resulted in a double personal foul. 01:02.0 Harden should've been called for an offensive foul on the initial hook with Lebron. 01:01.0 After the initial hook, Lebron should've been called for a personal foul on Harden
Didn't someone bump/hit Josh Smith when he went into the lane? Wasnt that in the last two minutes, too?
What about the 8-second violation on Cleveland's next to last possession that was uncalled and wound up being 2 Lebron free throw misses?
lol Lebron was pushing off on every jump shot. Sadly his game hasn't evolved since he got in the league. He still commits offensive fouls or travels on nearly every shot attempt. The dude is just a roid freak that never realized the potential of his talents.
can't tell if he was being sarcastic either lol. While only taking steroids Lebron has apparently drastically improved in all statistical categories over his career without ever harvesting his talent....
That review of the non-call at 1:02.0 is BS. Lebron reached in first, Harden would have blown right by him if he didn't. He kept going and their arms got hooked, and Lebron acted like he was Mr Innocent. Harden did grab lebron's arm but it was only after the initial reach wasn't called.
This is the best screengrab I could get from Ballstreams - seems to me that Lebron reached first, and should have been called for a foul right there. Whatever happened after that shouldn't have mattered But no, can't admit that Mr Pushoff did something against the rules...
