I don't know why, but for some odd reason I decided to go trick-or-treating tonight. I just wanted to see how people would react. I didn't have any costume ideas, so I decided to make a picket sign that said, "Nudist on strike!" and go in regular clothes. I kind of felt guilty, so I hid the sign when little kids where around.

Surprisingly, people actually gave me candy. I just wanted to enjoy the experience one more time, and didn't really expect the candy. All in all, it was a great experience, and I wish it wasn't as frowned upon, so I could do it more.

    Anyone else go trick-or-treating?

Well, you're not that old. Driving down the street earlier tonight, I saw a blue and red light saber. Getting closer, Luke and Darth Vader appeared to be full-grown and actually turned out to be the same college students I'd seen in those costumes earlier. I'm pretty sure they're in their 20's. I'll have to ask them if they got any candy.

Freshman year in college was my favorite costume... I was the fourth out of nine segments of a centipede. Nine of us got together and spray-painted a sheet and got under it to make little humps. My roommate, who had a young face, was in the front and had her head sticking out with antennae on it.

The idea was that we would look younger by getting down on our knees. Then we would drive to the rich neighborhoods like River Oaks, where they supposedly gave out full-size candy bars. Well, if we looked younger, the effect was always ruined when we stood up to get the candy. The people were amused and didn't seem to mind because we had put so much effort into it. They only gave miniature candy bars though. When we got back, those of us who were in the pep band had to run off to Midnight Madness. We never saw our candy stash again. (And then a large herd of naked people, wearing only shaving cream, ran through the gym during Midnight Madness... they hit the rest of campus, including the library where one guy threw himself against the glass door too hard and broke it, having to get stitches in his butt for Halloween... that was a pretty weird year. :) )

I had two trick or treaters at my door - my neighbor's daughters - and that was it. With this horrible weather tonight, it is no surprise.

If anyone wants a ****load of candy...

    Wrong HALLOWEEN thread, J...

I took my kids just down the street and back AFTER the cold front came and AFTER the rain stopped. I just took a few pictures... we didn't even dress up but neither did most of the rest of the kids...

Sucks that you guys had crappy weather. I didnt go trick or treating, but it was nice here, not to cold. I remember the year it snowed here on halloween, think I was in elementary at the time, now that sucked, but I was a trooper and still went out.

We had a lot of kids this year at our new house in cypress despite the weather. The past few years in the heights all we had was roving gangs of punk "kids."

One year we took our kids trick or treating and left a silver mixing bowl of candy on the porch. F'ers took the whole bowl... and kicked our jack o lanterns down the steps.

An 18 year old trick or treating? Something is distubingly wrong about that.

Last night I actually one had one group of trick or treaters come to my door. I expected none as I live in an apartment. I didn't have crap for them, so I just didn't answer the door. Kinda felt guilty about it. But today I have all this half-price candy!!!!

The last time I went trick-or-treating was my freshman year at UT... I dressed up like an Aggie and went to Hyde Park to trick or treat. I actually got a pretty good load of candy, except from this one other Aggie who didn't seem to like my costume. I don't know why...

Since then my halloween activities have consisted of the carnivals at the school I work at and my mom sending me a "halloween care package". This year I spent 2 hours face painting and I still haven't gotten the package yet.

Did they change the international signal for candy giving? Porch light off means I got no treats. Two separate groups ringed my door bell, because I had my
living room lights on. WTF. I might have to go completely dark next year.

Yeah, inside lights on, porch lights off now means "please egg my house later". I'd check the outside carefully if I was you. :D
