No matter what, AB, you're a bad-ass. You should go for it, but it depends on what you want out of your career. Remember, the only bad publicity is NO publicity. And the other thing to keep in mind is that it's not just about your comedic abilities... it IS a reality show, so editing will play a big role in how you are ultimately portrayed to a television audience.
If you are confident you truly are funny, I would do it. Keep in mind, I don't think a single person on the first season was close to funny, though. I've never heard any of your sets, but I believe you when you said they couldn't hold your jock. Given that, I'd say please do the show for the sake of it actually being funny.
AB, I have seen your show in person, and I think your stuff would translate well to a show. About the only thing I'd be worried about for your sake would be if there was a trader_jorge type living in the house. They love to show confrontation, and someone who knows how to push your buttons could end up putting you in a bad light. Overall though, I don't really see how it could do anything but help your career in the long run. B
Agree. The Asian guy had the same old race schtick. If AB has more variety, than he should go for it. I also remember Ralphie on the radio talking about how they edited it unfavorably towards him.
What is this, a stand-up comedy routine or a big brother live-in-a-house reality tv show? Or both? I've already tried out for one reality tv show and they were not able to fully appreciate the skills I bring to the table.
Yeah "Inflation Island" didn't do that well with the focus groups. thanks for your input anyway...i can't believe i said that.
AB - this is a real tough one, it give you my honest opinion. i despise the whole American idol and now australian idol concept...... there are so many musician out there who write and perform their own songs and are busting their busts playing gigs, touring, doing demos and trying so hard to build up and fan base and get a record deal...... who are extremely talented and with some marketing would do there careers wonders.... the contrast is idol concept where the public is sucked in because the marketing is so overwhelming, they are everywhere on TV, radio, newspapers and in magazines and the when there cds are out they are everywhere for sale and people but them... interestingly in australia, we have had two series of the popstars (not sure if you have that one, where they pick out 5 people to form one of the singing groups/bands) both the groups produced hit singles and first albums in terms of sales, but where are they now, one broke up after 1 year and second one just died less the year after they were supposedly 'big'...... so the question is will doing this make you even more popular (and likely seeing how good you are) but if for some reason it doesn't work out (and who knows with these reality voting shows often the talented people don't win) then will it undo all the good work your touring and performances have done for your credibility and reputation so far???????????
I didn't do the audition. I was in Miami and couldn't get a flt that got me to Dallas for 10:30am. I heard there were HUNDREDS of people there and they started lining up at 1am! Hopefully I didn't let you guys down. I will get CC.Net some national props before the year is over. Thanks again for your opinions.
