Dammit, I'm sad Bonnie didn't want to participate, but I'm f*cking angry that season 2 picked that Jessica "whatever her name is" as her replacement. Jesus, I hated her act, it was absolutely terrible.
Is there any doubt that Ralphie's gonna win? He's one of the funniest IMO (obviously not tonight), but he's a shoo-in.
anyone here see his dvd? its called Ralphie May: Just Correct it was one of the funniest things i seen in a long time, it had everything it, he even talked about kobe's trial and how he would present the defense' case and a little jab at yao ming's height. great stuff if anyone here can get their hands on it i recommend it highly
Its kinda funny how the present Ralphie on the show. On nbc they make him appear to be arrogant and mean spirited. I got the chance to meet him twice after some show a few years back. I have to say, he was one of the nicest comics I've met. He genuinely seemed interested in what I had to say, and who I was. But back to the contest. I don't think Ralphie will win hands down, I actually don't think he will win at all. His hip-hop comedy isnt appreciated too well by mainstream America and they either/or also don't get it. I havent seen his dvd, so I dont know what other stuff he has. I felt sorry for him today. What lost him the final two years ago, was his war rant. Very poor selection of jokes he made in the final. I dont know if they selectively chose those to show, but it wasnt very good. I think John Heffron was pretty good and has a good chance at repeating. I also like Rich Vos, but I dont think America wants to vote for a mean guy. Dave Mordal's act was a bit dissapointing. Tess was the funniest I have ever seen her, but that still doesnt say much. The other guys Gary, and Alonzo have a good chance. I'm eagerly anticipating Dat's performance to see if he has any new jokes. Last time I saw him, he sadly did not. You would think that in two years someone like a comic would come up with new material. That being said, I like Dat. I personally am rooting for Jay London or Gary Gulman. No chance for any of the chick comics though. It should be a good 8 weeks.
Ralphie WASN'T funny last night, but come on, with his story you don't think that he's gonna get tons of votes? Personally, I'm a Dave Mordal fan.
Ralphie is terrible. His set a few weeks ago during the season finale was just brutal. He’s a small step above Dat Phan. Boden, Heffron, Vos, and Mordal are all much funnier than him.
I don't get the point of putting these guys together and doing it again. This isn't Survivor, idiots. What? All of the sudden, Ant wins the whole thing? This is Like American Idol taking the first three seasons, putting them together, and thinking John Stevens has a shot at winning. The votes have been cast. It's over. Move on. We need new talent. Not a re-hashing. I find it ironic that the funniest guy I've seen on that show didn't even make it into the top ten. Stupid NBC! And I used to root for you in Battle of the Network Stars. You've made a powerful enemy today, NBC.
I think Fatty hit it on the head - what is the point of doing a vs. show after just 2 seasons? I've watched the show intermittently since it started, and the only reason I would have looked forward to another season was to see which new comics made the cut. That was the part I liked the most - seeing if I recognized any of the comics auditioning and whether they made the show or not. Now you're stuck with the same group rehashing the same problems/personalities. My advice would have been to wait until you have at least 5 seasons under your belt before trying a reunion show.
The jewish guy that had Drew Carey and Brett Butler up in arms. Seriously, he's been the funniest guy on there.
One of the Executive Producers of the show, Barry Katz, manages Mohr, May, Heffron and a few others. Between us Ralphie May's talent fee has gone up from 2500. a week to over 15,000. his agent's/manager's want to milk this thing for all it's worth, plus it is cost effective for them not to have to fly all over the country to look for new acts. NBC knows that America likes the comics that have already been on the show, why not capitalize on their popularity immediately. .02
You’re probably thinking of Dan Naturman. I don’t have a problem with them doing a reunion this soon. The thing about the format of the show the first two seasons is that some of the best comics of the show hardly got a chance to perform their stand-up act. Alonzo performed only two times the entire season. Now they’ve changed the format of the show so that there’s an emphasis on the stand-up acts instead of all the drama in the house. Hopefully now some of the better comics will get a chance to perform more than just once or twice the entire season.
Someday either this reality TV craze will end....or people will be signing up for The Running Man to get foodstamps. Please no Running Man. I have bad ankles.
