Larry hughes is one of those players you just look at and wonder why he isn't an all-star. He is so naturally talented but just hasn't developed. if he ever figures it out, watch out.

he needs to be somewhere where he can play big minutes at the 2 if he is ever going to live up to potential. He isn't a pg imo.

Well, with the Wizards he can step right in and fill the role of Courtney Alexander...oh, wait...that is Dixon's role now. Uh...4 sg's? Hmmm. This makes sense because....oh yeah, Hughes is a great point guard. nobody has given the chance to show it...that is why we don't know. Uh...

    Nevermind.

Hughes will have to compete for minutes with Hamilton.Rip is a natural 2,and a better player.
If Hughes improves his outside shot,he can do well coming off the bench,or else the Wizards will regret making this move because he isn't a point guard.

The Wizards are operating on a longer time frame, IMO, and are willing to give Hughes the time he needs to develop into a PG.

I think this is a good move by Washington, and in 2-3 years most of you will agree.

This pickup makes no sense. The Wizards have been manuvering contracts to have significant cap room next offseason. Having drafted Dixon, a player who would fill the same role as Hughes, the Wizards seem to have abandoned that for a player who has no real position.

Hughes' closest comparison is to Chauncey Billups, except without the point guard skills. He could eventually develop them, yes, but he's not going to get significant time over Dixon and Whitney. Don't forget the Wiz signed Tyronn Lue to play PG last year as well.

They must have designs on making him a SG...but don't they already have Rip Hamilton for that? Even if MJ doesn't come back, Rip is undersized to play SF, and Hughes definately can't do it.

Until he can flash signs of playing near his potential, I don't think I'll be able to change my opinion of him being a bust.

Juan Dixon was supposed to be their "PG for the future".

Not sure where Hughes fits in all this. My guess is that Washington isn't enamored with Alexander.

Seeing as they already traded Alexander to Charlotte, that would be a pretty good guess. :D

Larry Hughes was misplaced in Golden State. I hope he gets it together. As a 2, with MJ to point the way, he could be phenomenal.

Actually, something like this would make sense, if Washington dangles Rip for Jamal Crawford or Andre Miller. Wash wants a sh!@-hot point guard. This could be the way to land that fish.

As far as I know, no. It has been coming across ESPN2's Bottom Line every so often, though.

Larry Hughes should have gone to a team that wanted any help they could get at the sg position. A team like the Charlotte Hornets or the T-Wolves.

The Hornets already traded for Courtney Alexander, so I don't think they were looking for another guard.

And I think Minny's had their fill of Golden State castoffs/busts already! lol

    Hey Swopa,

When was Larry Hughes supposed to become a good shooter again? Newsflash Hughes SUCKS. He has always sucked and will always suck. Now that he doesn't play for the Warriors anymore you can quit pretending to like him. ;)

Hughes doesn't suck. This move sucks though. Why the hell did he go to the Wizards. Dixon, Rip, Jordan? He should've gone to the Hawks or I don't know where, but this is the stupidest looking move. It doesn't make sense. Another SG? Why?

The Hawks do need a dependable SG, but man, Glover and Dermarr could have probably beaten out Hughes. :)

Reporters are speculating that Hughes would become a tall point guard for the team, but that would be a mistake. He's a shooting guard.

So, again, maybe the team has other off-season moves to make.
