http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AlPP7wBl_wWTsvDoiS07Mda8vLYF?slug=aw-brown042610 Larry Brown is expected to leave Charlotte and go back to coaching the 76ers. In 2005 he almost took a coaching job with the Cavaliers, but ended up staying with the Pistons and winning the championship. If he leaves, is he making a mistake?
Sixers have claimed that they have not even contacted Larry Brown about the job. Plus, I believe Brown has too much respect for the team than to even discuss leaving until the Playoffs are over.
I dont see why he would leave the bobcats to downgrade to the sixers, for what? the opportunity to coach the likes of elton brand?
My bad, he was offered the job the season after that. He went to the finals in 2005 but lost to the spurs. Still would have been a mistake if he left.
This brings up a lingering question of mine. What the hell is Larry Brown's deal? Did he grow up in a fatherless home or what? He gets around more than the girls in that Hangout thread. You know the one.
In an aside interview during the game, he talked about wife or something. I can't remember if that was relevant in wanting to go back to Philly though...
There was a report earlier in the year that he might go back to Philly or LA to be with his family. I see him as the next Clippers coach.
During the interview, Brown said that he would consult his family after the season is over and make a decision, but the he will most likely keep coaching. He also said that if he is coaching, "it will be for Michael." Keep in mind, he's under contract with Charlotte for two more seasons. That's about as close to dispelling this rumor as it gets.
