Bird Says Tinsley Is "For Sale" Jun 24, 2008 6:00 PM EST Pacers president Larry Bird discussed the team's point guard situation on Tuesday hinting that Jamaal Tinsley is on the trading block, according to Pacers.com. "I'm not really worried about the point guard situation," he said, "because I know there are some things out there we can do to get a good point guard, maybe two of them." Bird was obviously hinting at using the #11 pick to draft a point, and the possibility of pulling off a trade to acquire someone like T.J. Ford of the Raptors. But before moving onto other topics, Bird not-so-subtly placed Tinsley on the block. He added, "and we've got one for sale." Bird also said that small forward Shawne Williams is "on thin ice" within the organization, likely due to a pair of off-court issues that took place last season. http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/draft_080624.html
what happened to tinsley? doesn't he hold the rookie record for most ast in a game? you would think this guy would be the second coming of mark jackson, but oh well.
Before all the "Tinsley to the Rockets?" trade scenarios start please realize this guy is like a poor man's Rafer and arguably the worst starting PG in the NBA. Let's swallow that tidbit of information first before we go crazy with trade suggestions.
Injury proned, cant shoot. As a matter of fact, Alston shoots better than Tinsley. But Tinsley has more penetrations. That's all.
didn't the bucks 2nd rounder (raman sessions) have like a 20 assist game last season? tinsley is washed up. got his contract and stopped playing.
If there is a Tinsley to Rockets thread, I am going to puke. Over the years, how many over the hill old guys we have adopted, from Mark Jackson, Charlie Ward, Rod Strictland to Steive Francis. No freaking way. Don't even mention it.
I'm so happy to hear this news. When I heard they wanted TJ Ford for Jermaine, I knew Tinsley was a goner... just the fact they'd be willing to give up a decent powerfoward for a young PG to replace the trash they have now. Anyone with a head on their shoulders should KNOW this team needs to be built around Danny Granger. Get a point guard on that team that can gel with Danny, get a couple of role players off the bench... install Ike into the offense more... in a weak East, they should be able to contend for 5-8 in the playoffs. That being said, PLEASE trade Tinsley to a Western conference team.... and try to send him into the SW division.
terrible contract terrible defender terrible effort terrible off the court decision maker good luck, larry
Tinsley and trash for........Zach Randolph??? or Tinsley for Jerome James. I don't see any other options, do you?
It's not often you have execs quoted in the paper saying this or that guy is up for a trade. Good thinking. Let cooler heads prevail. ...thinking, thinking... McGrady for Tinsley, straight-up?
the lasting image i'll always have of Tinsley is from the Brawl at the palace where he goes into the tunnel and then comes back out with like a broom or a dust catcher (you know the thing where people sweep the dirt into on a pole and then lift it up) and then starts showing it to the crowd.
i think so. but tinsley had something like 23 or 24. and it wasn't just one game like sessions. tinsley had a great rookie season (8apg, 1.7spg). his problem was injuries. he's only player over 70 games in a season twice.
yes, tinsley is actually a good player when he's healthy and has his head in the game (like a pg version of a poor man's tmac). but... as everyone has already said, he wouldn't really be that much of an upgrade at PG (if one at all). We should be looking at this Shawne Williams kid, he's only like 22 and he can really score from the wing. He's like a poor man's Kevin Durant, a very atheletic 3 with the body and skills to play the 2 or the 4.
would you really say that a rookie PG who averages 9ppg, 8apg, and almost 2spg sucks? he sure does suck, now.
