Had this happen to me before. Basically your LCD is dying and it'll need to get replaced. If it's under warranty, contact the manufacturer....if not, you may just need to buy one.

This happened to me too in my second year of ownership. It was not really a fixable problem. The LCD had to be replaced; no way around it. It was under warranty, so I sent it off and they replaced it and sent it back. I assume that's what you'll have to do.

What kind of laptop is it? Even if you bought it off someone else if it still has a warranty you can check online or call their support to check if the warranty is still valid.

Yeah, that's true. If it's a Dell, they even have an online owner transfer page where you just go into the site, fill in the form and then you're officially registered as the new owner. You don't need any information from the previous owner or anything... just the product key on the bottom on the machine.

It's possible that your video cable is loose. If you aren't covered under a warranty, get a geek friend to look at it.

Hopefully this link helps. You should be able to check your warranty status on this page.
