Is he injured? I wanted to make sure before I propose we pick him up with our exception, if we can't get a good PF like Fortson. He averaged 8.4 points and 5.0 rebounds in 22 minutes last year. I have liked LaPhonso Ellis as a player and a person, but he is just too injury plagued. 2 years ago, when he was a free agent, I wanted the Rockets to get him thinking his injury history was behind him, but it looks like they made the right move in passing on him. Ellis has been very injury plagued these past two seasons. He only played in 20 games during the '99 season and 58 games during the '00 season. That being said, if he is willing to sign a 1 yr deal with the Rockets, and Walt Williams is moved, then I am all for it. That way he can be our SF for 1 yr kind of as a stopgap, and then we can clear him off the cap in 2001. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
Yep, Ellis would be the perfect pickup if we were to manage to drop Walt for nothing. Doesn't need many minutes, which keeps Mobley happy, and is a decent shooter. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong? Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.
What do I think? I think if we could arrange a "pay as he plays" scenario we sign him. In other words, if he plays, he gets paid. If not, he will go bankrupt. He is injured so often and it's a shame because he has had some great years and great flashes of the player he could be. I don't wanna pay a guy that is nearly guaranteed to sit a good portion of the season. ------------------ HOOP-T ------------------
