I remember the draft when people were discussing whether to take big baby or landry. now that big baby's getting pt as well as landry, who'd you rather have on the rockets?

Landry, no question. Big Baby's sudden emergence is unexpected and mostly due to a weak Orlando team but once other teams start giving him attention he'll fade. Whereas Landry could easily be a starter in the Eastern conference.

To refresh your memory, no one was discussing who to take. The only discussion was between Williams and Davis and Williams was gone by then. Barely anyone knew who Carl Landry was. The board was furious that we didn't take Davis. In retrospect, Morey is smarter than us. I'm glad he took Landry.

^Actually, I think even Morey didn't want to sign him. Morey snubbed Landry and it took a while to get his 1-yr RFA contract(- remember the trouble we had to go through earlier this year because of it?) because everybody was jumping over Mike Harris (no offense to him).

Actually Morey has always tried to negotiate the hell out of his deals. Which is why I think it's likely Wafer leaves and it worries me how he's going to handle Yao when it's time to re-up.

He probably tried because of Landry's POOR performance at the summer league.

Interviews with him during the summer league made it seemed like Carl Landry was a bust.

Now on topic, I would pick Glen Davis. Two years younger, and the way he improved his jumper over last offseason is incredible. Only issue I got is his personality. He seems to get too excited or too depressed during a game...

If Landry wants to take to the next step, he MUST improve either his range or post-up moves.

It just amazes me how Davis improved that jumper.

Davis looks like a starter right now -- Landry is awesome, but he seems like a guy that will always come off the bench.

Big Baby has been balling all playoffs, it has nothing to do with a weak Orlando team.

You say once teams start giving him attention he'll fade, well are you going to use the same logic for Landry?

Davis has been pretty impressive when I've seen him. The problem with Landry is inconsistency. Too often, he has games where isn't a factor at all.

That's true but his weight still bothers me. If he can get lighter,he will be even better,

Davis is a more completed player. He is developing his games on both offense and defense.

So far, Landry is a one-dimension player.

Landry is a better rebounder, a far better finisher under the basket and a far better shooter. I know people are starting to believe Davis is a good mid-range shooter but he isn't even close to Landry. Check out their hot spots at NBA.com.

Davis does seem to have better footwork as well as ballhandling and passing skills. I also assume he is a better defender since that is Landry's biggest weakness.

I would honestly take Landry over Davis, homerism aside. Davis has made some nice strides but he isn't as good of a PF as Landry at this point. My biggest question mark with Landry is physical health. I don't know if Davis is an injury risk as is the case with Landry.

Landry is more athletic and has a better perimeter game. Although, Big baby has better low post moves, I believe Carl can develop his inside game to complete his perimeter game. The strength of Carl inside is in the drop passes from driving team mates.

In the long run, Davis will be a started in this league while Landry will be an energy guy off the bench. Plus right now Big Baby is cheaper.

Big Baby will not pan out in the long run because of weight problems he will face in the future(book it-2-3 years from now decline starts). Landry has alot more upside but may continue to face injury problems with his knee. Longevity will determine which player ends up being the better draft pick.

its not a coincidence that Rondo,Pierce and Allen are shooting low 40's in the playoffs, its because they're the FOCAL point of the offense.

Who on the Rockets gets that much attention to free up Landry?

If davis could ever play at 260-270 he would be a really, really good player in this league. he has a great feel for the game and has a high bbiq, but his lack of explosion because of the weight hurts him. He needs one of those barkley weight clauses in his contract. He kind reminds me of john "hotplate" williams. Whats crazy is both went to lsu.

Landry will still be in the league in 5 years. I don't know about Big Baby. That guy just reminds me of Oliver Miller, he may just eat his way out of the league.

Landry, he would be more deadly if he was playing with Rondo, Ray Ray and Pierce anyways. He's still deadly with Yao inc.....

They're both good players but I think Landry could do just as well or even better than Davis if he had the minutes Big Baby is getting in Boston. I would chose Landry cause he's way more explosive at attacking the basket, but wouldn't be mad if we had picked Davis instead of him. If Davis wasn't so grounded and could jump like Landry, he would edge out Carl for my pick but right now it's Landry.
