I didn't get a chance to watch many games last year...was he always getting rejected then too? Or is he still a bit injured and less explosive?

Actually he did get himself blocked a couple times (trying to pump fake under the rim will do that I guess) but he had a few nice plays. Still not the same energetic Landry we saw in his debut last season (but he is still scoring) but I doubt that will come again.

Your sample size is too small. He has been blocked a few times but it's early in the season.

Landry is an aggressive beast and finishes far more often than he gets blocked. He was our most efficient player against OKC, the only player that shot 50% or better. He also tied for the lead in rebounds with Yao while playing 10 minutes less. He was all over loose balls. He only had 1 TO.

Don't worry about The Beast. There are many other real issues to be concerned with.

while he lost a little explosiveness IMO, he made up for that by vastly improving his mid-range jumpers and his FTs

i don't feel like he's been blocked that much, despite seemingly having lost some hop.

what has impressed me so far this season is his vastly improved mid range j.

Scola makes things difficult around the goal and he has gotten shots blocked.

When you are not named Amare or Dwight Howard and you attack the rim as much as Landry you will get blocked a lot. Fortunately, you will score and/or get fouled much more often than you get blocked.

Give me a guy who attacks the rim and gets rejected now and again over the guy who is afraid to get blocked and hoists up low percentage shots all night.

Landry is a short PF who tries to play around the rim like Amare. As long as he does that, expect the blocks. More times than not he will finish but going directly to the rim when you can't jump that high invites getting stuffed.

I don't know why some people are saying Landry has lost some of his hops. I see the same guy that was throwing it down last season, only now he has improved his mid-range game, FT shooting, rebounding and defense.

Carl Landry is the very last area of concern right now. He will be at least as good as last season, maybe better.

Rafer Alston - now there is a legit problem.

Have seen him. he fumbles everything around the rim. he is to slow to get his shot up. he gets blocked left and right.

Scola tends to stay under the basket more too though. Scola tends to draw more fouls.

Its actually a good reason to have Landry start being he gets a bit of points from being open especially with Brooks running the 1.

Is this gonna be another one of those just cause he doesn't dunk he isn't as athletic debates?

I like Scola but he sometimes makes things difficult. He can turn an easy open layup to a blocked shot from trying to reverse it for some reason.

I'm impressed with how he has been hitting his midrange jumper though.

But landry is still a much better finisher around the rim. he goes up alot stronger. see how many and 1 plays he creates.

dunking takes alot out of you

landry was probably told by the doctors that if he wants a long career, he needs to watch his body and dunk only when necessary.

    he is doing just that

I think Scola is a better low post player easily though. Its the very reason Landry needs that mid range jumper. Once the teams know he can hit that he has a good fake then a quick step drive to the hoop.

Scola's situation is his mid range isnt as good. So he tries to rely on his post game more. And no, Scola draws more fouls under the basket

scloa, like his countryman ginobili, plays ONLY one-handed. the only difference is one ALWAYS goes right and another ALWAYS left. that's why you see him do reverses so often.

the biggest weakness of both argentineans imo.

Are you trying to say that Scola is as athletic as Landry?
