For all those doubters who scoffed at me and didn't think he would actually do it, hate to say I told you so. I'm not saying he needs to start jacking up 3's at the rate of Ron Ron and Co., but it's always a good weapon to have. I was at the game, and I nearly fell out of my seat when it went in.
He took one 3 pointer.. and at the end of the game when the game was already decided.. I dont expect him to shoot 3 pointers unless the shot clock is about to expire or there is a significant, insurmountable lead. Bring this thread back up when he's shooting 3 or 4 three's a game and making atleast 40% of them, not when he goes 1-1 in one game.
My point is that people didn't believe he was working on his 3-pt shot, not that he actually made it.
Nice call. He nailed it all right. I thought he wouldn't make it because he had a bit of a hitch in his shot, but it was all net!
i mean it was reported on the chron that carl was working on his 3 pt shot during the offseason, and i'm sure that's where you got the info from anyway. if not, want a cookie?
I actually heard about it when Matt Bullard said it during one the post-games this season, and people laughed at me for believing him. And yes, I'd LOVE a cookie.
I don't really think we should start having Landry throw up 3s unless he's just wide open... set feet, great pass... everything. But, Adelman has started playing him at the 3 when we go big, he's shown that he can hit the jumper with great consistency. If he can't hit the 3... he can definitely hit for 20 or so feet. Point being... this is a good sign that Landry can play SF when the matchups demand it.
Ha, predicted and posted that this thread would happen at exactly 8:00PM earlier http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4200731&postcount=18 Now its Scola's turn to add long range bombs into his arsenal.
This team is in DESPERATE need of a PF that can hit the long ball....if Landry can turn himself into a Horry type of PF...then we would be down to one weakness....at the PG spot. DD
For all you experts, I talked about the fact that Landry could and should add the 3 point shot to his game during last season. I don't think I got one positive response. However, I am still convinced he can hit 40% or more taking around 3 shots a game out there. And yes, it will help our offense tremendously if he does that. But until dude learns how to defend mediocre, then as far as I am concerned he is mostly a net zero due to the fact he gives up so many easy fouls and is always out of position defensively.
I was thinkin about this during the end of the game. I was watchin it with the gf and I saw Landry sittin in the corner and I was like I hope they let Landry shoot a 3 and sure enough AB0 found him and he "toilet bowled" it in there lol, I was shocked. Landry is my favorite Rocket, its been nice watching how much his game has progressed this year
Landry's place is not behind the 3 point line. The last thing I want is the only athletic post player on the team camping out at the line. I'm not advocating players to not add moves/shots to their offensive repertoire but the things that make Landry a great player would be negated by keeping him so far from the basket. If he had the handles to get from the 3 point line to the rim and finish then it would be better but he doesn't. I love that he has range out to about 18 feet but that's all he needs to give Yao room to move. It also allows him to get to the rim on one dribble which is about all he is capable of right now.
