In Iraq, a landmine exploded under a taxi near Khal-diya on Saturday, killing a family of three. The driver of the taxi carrying the couple and their son was also killed. As US soldiers face daily attacks in the region, the landmine may have been planted to target a military convoy, but exploded at the wrong time. The village where the explosion took place is 4 kilometers east of Khaldiya, on the road to Ramadi. It is in an area known as the Sunni Triangle, which has shown the strongest opposition to U.S. occupation.
