I believe he has 3 years left on a 7 year 29 million dollar contract. I don't know what it would take to get Murray but it's been reported that Cleveland is looking to trade him. He shot 42.4 % from 3pt range and pulled down 5.2 rpg last year.

Seems like the perfect guy to tutor Boki until he is ready. I just don't believe Glenn Rice is going to be able to contribute enough this year to stand pat at the SF position. If he really is healthy great but how long has it been since he was a real contributor on a team? I think the Rockets have to be realistic about what he is going to be capable of at this stage of his career.

I'd take Murray in a heartbeat, but who would they take for him? He was one of their leading scorers last year. I'm not sure they'd take just anyone for him.

Yes they would. Cleveland has been trying desperately to dump Murray, especially since acquiring Darius Miles. Murray has even come out publicly demanding a trade. Still, while I like his game, he makes too much money. His contract is backloaded, so he'll be making around $7M pretty soon. All things being equal, I'll just stick with Rice and Boki at SF.

Murray is not bad. I've liked him since his Clipper days. However, I would much rather have Jim Jackson. Has he signed with anyone yet?

I like Jackson a lot also. I'm not sure of his situation right now. He is either a restricted free agent of Miami or a unrestricted FA. At least I think thats the case?

Isn't Murray a 3? We already have Rice and Nachbar at the 3...unless we trade Rice away. He would be a nice backup at the 2, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to do that.

So you’re willing to go into the season with a player that hasn't been healthy in years, is at the end of his career and an unproven rookie who only avg like 7 points per game last year in the Euro league? Who exactly do you see getting most of the minutes at the 3? News flash- unless Rice really is healthy and ready to log serious minutes, WE NEED A SMALL FORWARD!

I rather jump on getting Lewis that picking up Lamond Murray....

But I'm thinking the Rockets are going to stick w/ the Rice/Nachbar combo instead of pursuing any free agents....

Murray? The Cavs'd give'm away if they could. They can't. If we insist on adding a '3' and I wouldn't bet the farm on it, look to Naillon or keeping the Wiz.

I mentioned this idea a couple of days ago. I like the idea of Murray starting at the 3 and backing up the 2, until Nachbar takes the spot from him.

BUT, he has 7M on his contract, and 2 years after that. Maybe if they took Glen Rice and Mo Taylor for Lamond Murray and Tyrone Hill. That would be a good deal.

Oh, and for 7M a season, we can get Rashard Lewis.

Murray would be nice, but he is expensive, and for the next 3 years. Rice is up in two right? If we could dump Rice then I would be for it.

If we could switch Rice & Murray, YES, but Cleveland wouldn't do that trade.

I've thought about acquiring Lamond Murray. The Rockets often pursue players that torch'em. Have you ever noticed how often small forwards kill us? Look down the list of all players and their career highs and against which team they achieved it. Very often our team was the torched opponent. I'd bet we're #1, if such a list was compiled.

Lamond wants to go West. He said as much, about a month or two ago. If Cleveland wants to dump his salary, fine; I'd conjure a 3-way trade with Seattle, netting us Rashard, even setting up Seattle for big cap space next year (Tyrone Hill's salary is off the books in 2003), but that sticky BYC makes acquiring Rashard difficult.

Maybe they would take Mo T....he would fit right in with the rest of their useless big men.

The figures I have seen for Murray are that he has 4 years remaining for $18.6m.

Jeff was pretty much on. What do the Rocks have that the Cavs want? KT plus Collier is close capwise but the Cavs would probably have to let them both go next summer (Collier is a team option and KT is a low price restricted FA who will at minimum get a MCE offer).

As much as I think Murray could help the Rocks at SF, the Cavs could probably field much better offers than what the Rockets could put on the table.

Leading scorer on a very bad team without an inside presense. I had him on my fantasy team, so I followed him alot. Most of his better games came at the expense of Person & Ilgauskis(sp?) being out of the lineup, plus he was out for a couple of streches due to injuries. I'd look elsewhere(Lee Nailon?) or stand pat with what we have.

If Murray will fill our needs at small forward, I don't see why Walt Williams wouldn't. From what I've seen of the two, they are fairly equivalent.

Btw, can't everyone see that if we were going to pick up a vet small forward, the Rockets would have done something already? I think it is fairly apparent that management has decided that we are going into next season with what we got, barring star-player giveaways.

I'd take Murray in a heartbeat, I always liked him, he's athletic and versatile. He fits the Rockets perfectly. The reason the Rockets haven't picked up a veteran SF could also be because there aren't that many available, at least ones that fit this team. Or it could be that they know that Rice will be healthy, and if Rice is healthy this this team will make the playoffs.

I'm a little surprised to see people attributing common sense to Cleveland management at this point. Their recent trades have been crazy, and it looks like they just want Lebron James next year. We could probably offer them Tierre for Murray, or perhaps we could send them some old Ralph Sampson posters and a Calvin Murphy sportscoat.:)
