Ron Ron can probably do that to most teams but I am guessing that a Phil-Kobe led team that has already gotten over the hump can keep him in line. The Lakers aren't a young, impressionable group that lacks an alpha male. Even if he tried, I don't think Artest could become much of a distraction. It really is similar to the Rodman-Bulls marriage. They are both teams that have already won rings. Kobe now plays the Jordan role and Zen master continues to play Zen master.
I agree, but Ron is such a wack job, and a guy who goes his own way that it will ultimately cost the team. He is Dennis Rodman - who thinks he can shoot. DD
Y'all serious? Don't get me wrong, we all know Jackson's tactics work. Doesn't mean they are right. Jackson SHOULD talk to Artest first, media second (if at all) - in the realm of "man code" anyways... Jackson is equally at fault here. Ron Artest is a man, PJ isn't his dad. Artest is a part of the Lakers ship and has every right to speak his mind. If you haven't challenged your boss at some point then you are in the minority. I can never envision Artest causing 10% as much drama as Kobe did in a 40 second sound clip during the friggn offseason. Oh - and possibly raping people.
