That trade doesn't make sense. However, Francis and Dream for Shaq isn't that bad. Most people just don't want to give up Francis, but as long as LA isn't going to utilize Shaq to his full potential, this would be a great trade for both teams.

LA would get a good defensive center (of course, Hakeem would get even less offensive looks than he does now), and they'd have the best backcourt in history....past, present, and probably future. They'd also have a decent shot at webber or garnett when Dream's contract expires.

We'd get the best center in the league, and we could go back to the offense that Rudy knows best, wins games, and everyone complains about

And by the way, it also works cap-wize.

I don't think LA would ever get rid of Shaq, unless the other teammates suddenly became Kobe supporters. I would guess most of the guys on the Lakers like Shaq because he showed he can take them to the championship, he constantly gets doubled which creates open looks for others, plus Shaq actually passes the ball, and he has done much better the last 2 1/2 years of making good passes out of the post.
I like the trade but I think if someone has to go that it would be Kobe, but does seem fun thinking about Shaq in the middle for the Rockets!

If Dream has mentioned the Laker s as one of the teams he would like to play for I wonder if the mal-content between Kobe and Shaq could boil over to our advantage.
I know it may be sacreligious aroung here but do you think we would consider a trade of Francis & Dream for Kobe, Horry and whoever else they may need to throw in to work salary wise.
I like Kobes game and I think he may well indeed be the best player in the league, or may have the most upside, but it worries me that he would rather win a scoring title than another NBA championship.
Plus Shaq admires Dream so much I'm sure Shaq would definetely push for the trade, plus Shaq would get a PG who has a ton of potential. Dream would be happy because LA with him and Shaq would definetely be a post up team and he would have a chance to win a championship.
I know more than likely that LA will never give up Kobe, but if it became avaialable and we needed to give Francis & Dream up I think we should give it serios look.

No way in hell do I want that ball hogging jerk on the Rockets!

Anyway, there aren't enough balls to go around for Cuttino and Kobe.
