Now that the Lakers have just won their 3rd straight NBA championship its time to concentrate on the draft and the off season. Better luck next year to the NBA runner up Sacramento Kings. Does anyone think that the Lakers will allow the Nets to win a game in the up coming annual East vs. West post NBA championship scrimmage series?
At least the Nets got a shiny little silver trophy on Friday. With talks of realignment maybe the NBA should swap teams from different locations to have an even finals, or seed them like the NCAA. This is not exciting basketball...
IMHO, the Nets are no better than a healthy version of this past season's Rocket team. They are gonna get swept no doubt.
So absolutely no one hear thinks the Nets even have a chance of winning a game in this series. I don't like the Nets much but I hate the Lakers even more for all the times they've hurt me. If were lucky this will be there last championship and we'll never have to hear from them again, which is not very likely at all. Time to look forward to next year, Blazers and Rockets all the way next year, I'd be happy with either team winning.
Sweep? 3rd Championship huh? What are you guys talking about? Bibby is the one that single handedly almost beat the Lakers with help from Webber. I wouldn't underestimate the Nets especially with Jason Kidd running the show. Sure he doesn't have the sweet jumper like Bibby but he does create a lot of open oppurtunities and K Mart will eat Horry alive just as Sheed and Webber have done. The Nets will go as far as Jason Kidd takes them as long as they contribute off of Kidds feeds. As opposed to PippenDagimps view of Nets being a healthy Rockets I think the Nets are like the Sac Kings of the East. Bibby-Kidd Christie-Kittles Turkoglu-Van Horn Webber-K Mart Divac-Williams Kings Bench... Peja (unhealthy) Jackson, Pollard Nets Bench.... Jefferson, Todd Mcculough, Lusious Harris The biggest difference here is obviously between Divac and Williams. An argument can be made between K.Mart and Webber because Webber produces numbers even though it doesn't seem like it. The biggest advantage I see here is Kittles who is also a good defender like Christie however Kittles has much more offense to bring. And Van Horn is a more consistent player then Turkoglu. The way I see it is another good series. Theres no dominant position advantage except for Shaq as long as Kittles can contain Kobe (not likely). And with 3 big bodies with Mcculough, WIlliams and Collins make Shaq beat you at the line if you have to. On a final note I think Jason Kidd is one of the best help defenders and I can aleady see a lot of steals off Shaq by Kidd.
while technically this is true, those are two big-time disadvantages for the nets. it's not just another matchup, those might be the 2 best in the game. the nets just don't have anyone, imo, who can play shaq as well as divac. also martin can't hold webber's jock-strap, it's not really close at all. webber is a top-flight power forward and martin doesn't do one thing better than him. as much as i'd like someone to b****-slap the lakers, i think the last chance was the kings.
Okay first of all I know you did not just compare K Mart to Rasheed and Webber. He is no where remotely as good as those two. Second of all, neither Rasheed or Webber were able to do much against Horry in clutch situations. Horry is one of the best defenders in the league and held more then his own with his clutch shooting.
I have a feeling Fox will be on Van Horn to try rattle his confidence. Despite the height mismatch, the Great White Hope can't shoot when he doesn't believe he can. But when he does, Keith can the light it up like a guy who's been paid as much as Keith is being paid.
if it goes more than 5 games it will only be because LA is sleepwalking out there. there's no way in hell they match up even remotely well. the fact they pass a lot like the kings will help get open looks but hitting them like the kings did (until game 7) will not be easy. plus, who's guarding shaq again?? maccullough? if the officials are calling it fairly, that will be ugly. if they are calling it like usual, hide the women and children.
Nope...you lost me there. Please try not to respond to one overstatement with another. Good defender? Absolutely. One of the best in the league? Nope. I don't think so. I just watched the game on tape cuz I was watching the Tony's at a friends house. I feel sick to my stomach, but it played out exactly the way I knew it would. Chris Webber will never win a NBA championship. He is scared to death of success. I've seen it too many times before. He lives way too much inside his head. He has all the talent in the world, but too many holes in his feet from the number of times he's shot himself. Bibby should have never let anyone else touch that ball. He's the only man on that team that actually wanted that ball in the fourth. I hate the Lakers with every cell in my body. Noone more than Phil Jackson. He is Evil incarnate. I am praying for a miracle. A miracle in the form of a no-name team from the East taking it to the forces of Evil in a big way. It will take nothing short of an act of God to make that happen. Without that miracle, the Nets don't stand a chance. King's of the East? Maybe, minus the front court. They've got noone to get in the way of that 300 lb gorrilla. No, Kobe and Phil will be smiling their smug little smiles once again come Wednesday. And I don't see those smiles being wiped away any time soon. They must be stopped.....no matter the cost. Optimus Prime reference.....anyone catch it?
Kmart can't do one thing better then Webber? Atleast Kmart has balls and can rebound and wouldn't choke as bad in clutch situations and complain to the refs about every call and draw a technical with a game 7 on the line. I know it's unfair to compare Webber and Sheed to Kmart because those 2 are so talented but I give Kmart a lot of credit because he plays with so much power and does what he can with his limited talents. What he lacks in talents he makes up with Physical play.
But wait...back in 95 the sixth seeded Houston Rockets weren't supposed to beat the mighty 'new dynasty' in Orlando....
I'd be happy as hell too if the Nets beat the damn Lakers! I cheered for Lakers against the Kings, but that is it. Unfortunately the Nets have no chance in hell of making it even remotely close.
