if there really is a conspiracy in the nba.

i have, to my shame, been thinking a lot about this whole conspiracy theory thing, and i have come to the following conclusion: if there is a conspiracy, the pacers will win
    this series in 7 games.

think about it, if there is a conspiracy, it would make total sense for stern to order this done. he already has the highest drawing team in the league in the finals, why is it necessary for them to win a championship? laker fans will be thrilled, but the casual fans won't give a crap. it
was expected since halfway through the season, where is the surprise and tension and excitement in that? wouldn't it
be better to have the underdogs (the pacers, obviously)fight and fight and claw and bite their way to seven games against the "invincible" lakers and then in a stunning set of events take game 7 from them in the staples center? wouldn't that be far more exciting for the casual fan (stern's main target group)? and not only that, but it
would be a fairy tale finish for the league as the embattled vets get larry bird, great celtics winner, and in bird's third and last year as coach, he pushes the team that could
never quite get over the hump over the edge and leads them to a championship? is there anymore ideal situation than that? nope, not at all. that would generate tons of fan interest and revive the league as playoff basketball is again shown to be a fun and exciting game where anything at all can happen and nothing is set. AND, stern thus basically kills most of the other conspiracy theories out there to boot.

errgh. just read this post and realized i didn't credit where i got it from. i read this on the laker board and copied it over. not my own work.

I also want the Pacers to win. If they play like they are able to then the Pacers will win. It will take a lot of luck but my hatred of the Lakers will make them lose. Here are my picks.

    Game 1-Lakers
    Game 2-Lakers
    Game 3-Pacers
    Game 4-Pacers
    Game 5-Pacers
    Game 6-Lakers
    Game 7-Pacers

Maybe if Smits stops being the dumbest big man in the history of the NBA, they might actually stay competitive.

Smits, the foul machine. And I know he won't lose any sleep over it. He just doesn't seem to get it.

Most of the fouls called on Smits weren't fouls, and a lot of plays Rik got hammered by Shaq and there was no call. It's all because of the damn NBC refs. [IMG]

Indy sucks so much. They just do. They had the refs, the NBC/NBA script written for them, the crowd and no Kobe.

Yet, they only win by a few points? What else do they want? The refs clearly gave them more opportunities than they deserved! Look at the difference in the free-throws they shot compared to the Lakers. The refs gave them almost every chance to win.

What makes me the most upset is the fact that Miller is not as big of a player as I thought. He should know what NBC and the NBA want. He knows that they need to have this series extended. He should shoot until his arms fall off. Reggie is not sticking to the script.

Stern should give him a call.
