Does it strike anyone else as odd that Portland, Miami, and LA all miraculously had bad games against Houston recently? How they complained about how they wouldn't have beaten anyone in the league, and how embarrassing it is to lose to Houston? Of course it couldn't possible have anything to do with good defense and a certain explosive offensive young guard. [This message has been edited by haven (edited January 31, 2000).]
must be the smog on the way over lol thats a sorry excuse yah they have a bad game cause we force them into one ------------------ --TEX
I agree, haven, but on the other hand, I have to ask: what is so inaccurate about the league's best team saying, after it lost to one of the bottom 10 teams (based on record), that they didn't play up to their potential? We sure played well yesterday and deserved to win, but I don't doubt that LA could have played a lot better than they did.
The fact that most of the bottom 10 teams hven't beaten as many good teams as we have... and haven't been as competitive in their losses.
Vancouver: Has wins over Miami and Utah Dallas: Minnesota, Phoenix, Portland Atlanta: New York, Indiana, San Antonio Orlando: Utah, Minnesota Clips: New York, Sacramento Houston: Lakers, Phoenix, Miami, Portland, LA Alright, the difference isn't HUGE, but I thi nk one exists... we're the only team of the ones I checked to have victories over the two best teams in the NBA. Also, we have the best record of those teams in the last 10 games. We began the season 2-10... since then we're 15-17. Furthermore, we went on a 5 game losing streak after the loss of Barkley. Since then, we're 10-10. Now, I don't think those are stellar #'s... and this isn't an arguement for Houston making the playoffs. It *is* a suggestion that Houston isn't quite in the same class as the bottom dwellers... and shouldn't be regarded as such. Satisfied, Kagy? We beat LA twice..... I get all warm and fuzzy when I hear that!! ------------------ HOOP-T Hey Shaq, Acme called, and they want their bricks back!
Kagy, It's not innacurate for league leading teams to say that they had a bad day against us, its just poor form. Most coaches will give credit to the opposition, because in reality, the oppositions GOOD play is a major contributing factor in why his team played BAD. Heck - even Shaq was more gracious about the loss than Phil Jackson. [This message has been edited by davo (edited February 01, 2000).]
Haven, you referenced the game in which the Lakers were minus Kobe and Shaq, I simply referenced the same game, as we were without Chuck. It was relevant to the situational aspect of my argument. Not that I was arguing.....
You can add Charlotte to that list now haven! That defentely seperates us from the other low teams, and clearly shows that we can play with everybody. GO ROCKETS!
We beat the good teams, but we lost to Golden State and Denver. So, maybe, just maybe they were overlooking us. DaDakota
