What's so surprising? Gasol is a better player who plays a more important position. I don't know why Rockets fan have such a disdain for Gasol.

It's too even of a deal. Not the lakers style. They want something and give away their crap.

But in this case, I agree that Pau and Bynum is more deadly combo than bynum and rondo.

The Lakers won back to back championships because of the addition of Pau Gasol. They are not going to win a championship with the addition of a Rondo. Gasol is at the end of his prime but he is still one of the best bigs in the league. People on this board tend to underrate him because of the failed trade earlier this year.

Pau and Bynum are the best front court in the NBA, too bad Kobe doesn't pass the ball. I think the Lakers should have made this deal though. They need to worry about the future and a Rondo Bynum combo would be deadly for years.

    This.

Talent wise they are close, but Rondo has more upside and he's not on the decline. Lakers want every trade to make them better now and later. It's called a TRADE, you trade something for something. If Rondo had a 3 point shot it would have been an instant deal for the Lakers.

Word out of Boston is that LA offered that trade and they rejected it. Guess it depends on who ya wanna believe.

There are more reports about Rondo being shopped. The Lakers can't live with a huge hole at the 4 spot, Boston will be fine without Rondo since they have Bradley and what would be the new best front line in the NBA.

Celtics fans are in disbelief that their team is getting older and this swap would put them back in contention for this year and next. Rondo is not a center piece you build around after the big three retire.

People underestimate Rondo on this BBS. Just because he can't shoot doesn't mean he's a bad PG. Look at Aaron Brooks. He can shoot. He shot himself out of the league while he was at it as well.

But they'd trade him from Lowry?

Someone needs to watch basketball... Point Guard is BY FAR the most important position on the floor. They facicilate the offense. For you to say that makes it sound like you don't even watch basketball.

I don't think trading Pau for Rondo makes the Lakers better this season. It positions them better long term.

Lakers are holding out for Goran Dragic.

In all honesty, Rondo is not the right PG for the Lakers. They need someone who can 1st and foremost shoot the 3. Otherwise the lane closes up on Bynum/Kobe too much.

Why would Boston even entertain this garbage?

Because elite point guards win championships ALL the time. The most important position is always the big man in basketball, in any era. To suggest other wise is just like saying the QB isn't the most important position in football.

I definitely agree with you. The Lakers are making a mistake not trading for Rondo. Unless they are getting a better deal somewhere else they shouldn't pass this up. But like a previous poster said, "it's too even of a deal for the Lakers." It's true. They got Pau for Kwame, what more do they want? I could just see Rondo/Bynum vs Paul/Griffin. Those would be fun to watch. The Lakers need a PG big time and this is their chance to get an elite one.

Lakers do not need a big-time PG next to Kobe. Never had one and don't need one now. If they give up Gasol, it would be a waste on a PG. (For this season). I do agree they must upgrade from the trash they have there now to make a run.

If the Lakers trade Gasol, it should be for an upgrade at both PG and SF. Both positions need serious help. Or either get a decent PF replacement + a better PG in return. The problem with trading Gasol is the Lakers don't have a legit backup and trading him just creates another giant hole.

The lack of depth makes it hard for the Lakers to make a significant trade that improves them this season.
