So, basically, these guys can turn a profit without having one single fan walking into the arena.

In other news, Bobcats get $500 newspaper deal over 5 years.

I wonder how public relations would have gone in negotiations if the players had just kept bringing up this deal.

I hope Time Warner has an option before the 20 year mark. Kobe on the decline, with an aging Gasol, and an injury prone Bynum. Not to mention Mike Brown (lol) as the new head coach...

Oh who am I kidding? The Lakers will find a way to get Dwight for Ron Artest, Andrew Bynum, and an ounce from Phil Jackson's private stash in Montana.

No, they'll trade Bynum for Howard, Fisher and Walton for Paul, and Artest for Danny Granger.

No wonder the NFL doesn't have a team there, no owner would want to share in that bonanza !

That is amazing! Good for them and it's good for the NBA a team can generate that kind of revenue from a cable deal.

They'd find a way to shoot themselves in the foot.

Like for example Rondo making dumb comparisons.

He'd be shocked at the split record labels and tour promotors get for putting up the money.

To put this in perspective, the league paid $310 mil for the Hornets.

Every other year, the Lakers could be a small market team like the Hornets on their local tv profits alone.

For the $5 bil, the Lakers could buy out 16 small market NBA teams or over half the league and still have $20 mil left over.

It was the other 22 owners that were going for the strike.

It's common knowledge that the Lakers, Knicks, Bulls, Heat, and a few other big market teams were not among the hardline owners like Jordan, Sarver, and Holt. The Lakers would lose out on enough money in 1.5 seasons to buy out New Orleans Hornets completely. They had $200 million reasons not to want it, while the other the small market teams had $300 million reasons to go forward with it. It just highlights the large gap in profits between teams.

Everybody knew the Lakers got $3-5 billion from Time warner while Jordan can't even get $1 billion tv deal. I believe it is one of the largest tv deals in NBA franchise history. The other one would have to be for the Knicks.

They are in the sense of not being hardliners in the CBA negotiations. The Heat took sides with big market franchises that definitely wanted a season to happen because they are favorites for the title.
