I've always liked Mitch, and if the Rockets don't win, then I wouldn't mind seeing him get a ring.

I'm not that impressed with Walker, but I'm sure he's a better option at PF for an entire season than Robert Horry...

Walker played tremendously well for SA the year before last - last season he lost that form and got lost in the "shuffle" of PF's at the Spurs. Hopefully his form stays lost while he plays as a Laker....

Mitch getting a ring means the Lakers winning the whole thing, no thanks.

Then he went to the wrong team. [IMG]

I think they are two exellent aquisitions for the Lakers. I beleive Walker has the talent to excel besides Shaq. Walker IMO is a definite upgrade from last years version of Grant.

Well, with a name like "Samaki", he can't help but be a pimp. [IMG]

These are some interesting, if not weird pickups. I can't really see Richmond contributing much off the bench and Walker, who can bring some athleticism to the court will probably get lost behind Horry simply because, IMO, Horry fits into Phil's system much better. Then again, Phil has come up with alot of suprises in the past. It will be interesting to see how the Lakers perform next season.

Walker is a scrub, this shouldn't even be news.

Richmond is an interesting pickup though.

Perhaps Phil wanted somebody to ride motorcycles with after a game.

I don't think you watched Walker much. He's lazy, an average rebounder, poor scorer, very little hustle... imho he's a huge dropoff from Horace Grant.

Walker is known for being a slacker. He's even better-known for wearing a pimp's outfit to the NBA draft. Dallas couldn't get much from him and neither could San Antonio. If anybody can, it probably will be Phil Jackson, but don't bet on it... he's pretty much a slacker who'll never live up to his abilities from what I've read.

Actually I watched Samaki quite a bit when he was here in Dallas. My point on Samaki is that he has all the talent he needs to be succesfull in LA and at this stage of Grants career is an improvement IMO.

At one stage after Gary Trent was injured in Dallas Samaki looked like he could be a serious star. He was avg close to 20 pts and 10 boards a game. He then hurt his hamstrings or pulled a muscle or something like that and ended up in Don Nelsons dog house. He never recieved any type of signifigant playing time again.

I always wondered if Walker suffered from some of the same heart problems as Cato as I beleive that he has lacked the type of self motivation that the stars of this league have. He seemed just a little too content to sit on the bench behind Duncan in San Antonio.

At just over a million a year Samaki is a low risk player that has tons of up side. If Samaki is placed in the starting PF spot besides Shaq and gives an honest effort then LA will have the steal of the off season IMO. However it is just as likely that Walker will suffer from a severe lack of interest and produce nothing.

Samake is the ****!!! Don't look at numbers, look at game. I gaurantee you the boy got skill. He was the **** at Louisville in a very short stay. No PT or confidence in Dallas. PLayed well last year for the Spurs with opportunity. Will have all the heart it takes once he gets the minutes. Remember that!!!

The Lakers are pretty much in a league of their own now with these pickups. Richmond and Walker to go along with Lindsey Hunter, they are deep. We can only hope that the new rules will greatly hinder Shaq and give everyone else a shot.

Remember Phil J was able to get production from Bison Dele. Walker is a good pick up for them. We will see how the zone might impact them, but with Mitch, Walker and Hunter on paper they are at least as good as the previous 2 championship teams. Personally, I think Mitch fits them best of all, he can provide good D and outside shooting for 24 minutes a game while giving them a lot of flexibility with Kobe.

I am not worried about the Rockets catching the Lakers next year. But I am concerned with catching them in 3-5 years.

Also, Samaki Walker has championship experience, so that will help his transition with the Lakers. He'll get some respect.

Oops, my mistake, Samaki WASN'T on the Spurs when they won the NBA Championship. Still a good pickup off of the bench, doesn't solve their PF problem though.

Because of the Spurs, and Wizards (who is in the East and not worried about winning right now) the Lakers will win their 3rd in a row and offically start the new Dynasty...
