Joel Meyers, the Lakers' television play-by-play announcer, is doing Houston Rockets preseasons games and also Houston Texans pre-season games. Does he have a houston connection or something or is he just doing random games here and there for various teams. However,he seemed to be favoring the Texans heavily during the broadcast. Anyone know? I think he's pretty good too, just my opinion.

As a SoCaler forced to watch a bunch of Lakers games, I think he's a pretty decent announcer. Lakers fans seem to dislike him, though.

Pretty cool if he has a Houston connection.

He had a pretty big shoe to fill after Chick Hearn. I didn't like his homerism and still don't like him.

He's good. He used to do Spurs' games with Sean Elliot, too.

He and Stu are decent announcers for the Lakers. I don't know of any Houston connection.

Not sure about his Houston connections but he also does Big 12 football games for Fox Sports.

Paul Sunderland followed Chick Heans as Lakers TV announcer, was doing a fine job at it for 2-3 years.

Rumors abound that the Radio announcer, Joel Meyers, back-stabbed Sunderland, and became the replacement.

he was a missou grad, and was their TV announcer

Meyers has good pipe, is a better football announcer than BB

The real homer is Mychal Thompson. Meyers is okay.

I thought it was just one year for Sunderland. Anyways, I couldn't stand Meryers on 570 when I had to listen to him on the way back home. He screams out whenever Lakers makes a 3 and bash them whenever misses one. Man, I miss Chick. Stu is mightily fine too.

Thompson has a show on 710 now. Gee, it's a pain to listen to him to kill 3 hours.

He's got the perfect announcer's voice. Love listening to the games he calls.

I'm not sure about any Houston connection but he seems to get a lot of work in this area. In addition to the Texans games, he is also a play by play man for FSN's coverage of the second and third tier Big XII games on Saturdays.

He has appeared on several Hollywood movies already, or more precisely his voice.

I actually served on Jury with him in LA. I talked to him regularly during that week. He doesn't have a real Houston connection other than doing the Texan games. He's good friends with Bob Allen, loves Tim Foley, though, and seemed like he "got" the greatness of Gene Peterson. (obviously it was a few years ago when we had jury duty.)

He seem to genuinely like the city. But he lives here, and is part of the Lakers organization. I asked him about Rudy T, since Rudy is with the Lakers, and he said Rudy was a great guy, and they played golf sometimes.

I don't have a thing bad to say about Joel Meyers.
