If O'neal heads to East, Laker might go after Yao Ming in2007 ??? According to ESPN:: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=stein_marc&id=1837825
news flash: everyone will try to get Yao in 2007. He could be the best center if not player in the league then. Even if Shaq stays they will try to get him and they won't be successfull. Yao is staying in Houston.
alantong, out of the last 5 threads you started, two were locked. I predict this one has a good chance to become the third.
Yeah i guess Ming will go there on a discount because between Kobe and Odom thier money will be short. I'm not the least bit worried about that. Thats why the trade made no sense for La because they would have had Shaq's 30m coming off the books and George and Kobe would have been the only 2 lakers under contract. Now after Kobe eats up 14mil per and odom 10mil and , they will be limited.
Man, will these threads ever stop? Look, who knows what Yao will do? But I am banking on these two things.... 1) Yao is a very loyal person. I believe if we continue to treat him right and continue to build he will be loyal and resign with the Rockets. I dont see him like Shaq and wanting to go to LA for the bright lights and the big city. Yao hates that attnetion anyway. Yao is COMFORTABLE in Houston. He will be loyal and resign here. 2) The Rockets can easily pay Yao the most money via the 12.5% raises and adding in the 7th year. So money isnt really an issue. It would have to be other factors that would make him leave. I think those two things will keep Yao in Houston. And with tying up Tmac past Yao's FA time it will show we have a building block in Tmac already here. I think that is a big deal.
I think we should start keeping a tall of how many r****ded "Yao to LA or New York in 2007" posts are started. I'm thinking we are at 30 already. Morons.
Not to stir things up, but as I've pointed out in the past, all the CBA has to do is tell YM they will let him keep his entire paycheck, if he signs with a certain team, and even if he has to accept a smaller contract, he'll still come out ahead.
I'm not so sure that Yao is really all that greedy. If there is such a person, who isn't in it all for the money, then I'd say that person is Yao. He's banking on endorsements already, and I just don't feel that Yao is a money talks kind of guy. I could be wrong though. I've always wondered how these superstars demand all the money, and then say they want to win a championship, but they hog all the salary of the team.....it takes a collective of good players, and good players aren't free.
This is the exact quote from the article: It's still in question whether or not the Lakers will have enough cap room even then. Was Yao a Rudy T. favorite?
Who was the guy that always told people to stop posting? He needs to make an appearance in this thread.
Next summer...the summer of 2005 the Rockets will give Yao Ming a max contract extension. In 2007 he will be safely under contract.
while were at it - why don't we start worring about the 2014 season - I mean... T-mac will be 35 then and WAY past his prime ... and Yao will be 33 and we all know that Centers can't play well after age 32 !
Now that Francis and Mobley are gone we're going to have to deal with these idiotic "Yao to the Lakers" threads. Nevermind the fact that the Rockets are building a winning team around him, the Rockets can offer him the most money, are in a reasonable sized market and have a large Asian population, he's going to the Lakers because they're the Lakers. And now we have to deal with people starting up posts about it every other day. Great.
This discussion board costs Clutch money. Why should we burn bandwidth on a board Clutch pays money for to talk about the same topic, in anew thread EVERY OTHER DAY.
