The mighty have fallen...for at least one game!

    ;)

I'm curious, how can anyone stand to listen to the Laker's announcers? The one guy is so monotone it's unbearable!

You mean chick hearn? the old man. yea I think he's decent...kind of, but for a laker's commentator he sure downs them a lot. Anyways he's done commentary for the lakers for YEARS...like 3 decades or something like that. Personally I think the old dude is a little too boring and has some stupid jokes he tries to throw in...I mean real stupid, like jokes my 75 year old senile grandfather throws at me:rolleyes: give it up chick, give someone else a chance to comentate!

Lakers have the best play-by-play duo IMO.

Hearn and Stu Lantz are the most objective team play-by-play announcers I've heard in the NBA.

On League Pass, you get access to some crappy announcers who think the refs have it in for their team.

Bill Worrell mentioned either before or during the game that the Lakers were gunning for the Rockets' record of victories to start a season. We almost stopped them....

They barely got halfway there, punks.

The Rockets must have tired them out for Phoenix. Dang opportunists.

I disagree. I find the Laker announcers very good. That is the legendary Chick Hearn you are talking about. He has called over 3,000 straight games. I think that is more impressive than Cal Ripken. I'm sure Chick's vocal folds were not up to par on some nights.

Plus they always have good things to say for the opposing teams players. Yes, chick blasts the Lakers a lot. I wish more announcers would do that to their teams, because their teams deserve it. If Bill Worrell were like Chick, he would have blasted Mobley many times by now. Props to Chick for saying what he thinks.

You wanna know who is annoying. That damn Joel Meyers (and Sean Elliott) for the Spurs, they think every questionable call goes against the Spurs opponent.

BTW, what happened to Jim Durham of the Mavericks. Is he not calling games anymore. I thought he was pretty good.

    Damn straight JBII.

Chick calls it like he sees it. Whether it's a Laker or whoever, he will praise/bash the player when necessary.

His voice might not be the best, but I respect his ability to call the game down the middle.

He's one of those few team play-by-play guys who would have no trouble covering national games.

I'm surprised that NBC didn't woo him from LA.

I also enjoy watching the Clips play, because of Walton.

I find him thoroughly entertaining, and he is very objective too.

It's fun hearing him make fun of Owolokandi.

Chick can sound loopy sometimes, but I like the guy's broadcasts. Now those Spurs broadcasters... oy.

Anybody hear Eddie Johnson doing the Suns games? He may be the worst I have heard.

The Spurs announcers are very bad. I guess the TWolves got rid of Jim Peterson. He was pretty bad as well.

    The good ones:

    1. Clippers (Walton, nuff said)
    2. Celtics (Cousy occasionally does games. When he does, there are no better announcers)
    2. Rockets (if you can put up with all the cookies and childish pictures, there is some good analysis going on)
    3. Sonics (Calabro is very good)
    4. Warriors (Jim Barnett tells it like it is)
    5. Knicks (Clyde knows his stuff)

Finnster* - I agree to the word. Most folks around here dislike Walton, but once you learn how to listen to him he's very good. For the Celts, Heinsohn is objective and the Couz' is icing on the cake.

Calvin Murphy is like Walton - forget the superficial fluff and listen to the content. Frazier is so laid back (the anti-Calvin?) it's incredible. I appreciate Clyde's objectivity as well.

I've never been offended by the Sonics duo - they've been somewhat transparent (and now a days that's a good thing). The guys for the Warriors have been among the best I've heard at hyping the Rockets. They were extremely gracious to Hakeem when he blew that point blank dunk and they love Cat & Steve.

If I watch the Spurs, I turn the volume down real low. :)

I also agree about Walton. I guess many people in Houston do not like the guy. I don't understand that really. Hearing him call a game is interesting because you don't know what will come out of his mouth.

I watched the Clipper-Raptors game, and as usual Walton had great things to say about Dream. But his line of the night was this...after a Olawakandi? block.....

"Hey, I might be time to rethink that draft of four years ago."

I love when Antoine Walker leads a 3 on 1 and pulls up from 25ft and lets fly. Heinsohn will take a heart attack one of these days.

During last season Walton had many very funny comments about Keith Kloss. I can't quote verbatim, but Kloss came in and blocked a shot - nothing sensational, just because of his height. Next time down the floor an opposing player throws up a very questionable shot and Walton quips something like:

"And again the mere defensive presence of Keith Kloss strikes fear into the opposing offense."

I just think alot of people don't understand his tongue-in-cheek style.

    From the Inimitable Bill Walton:

(Chris Dudley takes a terrible shot, but Larry Johnson rebounds it and scores)

    “Nice pass by Dudley.”

(Mark Jackson makes an uncontested lay-up)

Bill: “The real question there is, where was Kurt Thomas?”

Snapper Jones: “Um…he’s on the bench.”

Tom Hammonds: “Yeah, he’s sitting over there by Van Gundy.”

Bill (unfazed): “Well it’s obviously going to be hard to block a shot from over there.”

Oh God no! I could barely stand to hear him commentate the Suns game.

I can agree that he knows the game and doesn't hesitate to call out "his" guys, but he has absolutely no feeling.

Have you heard Hersey Hawkins do games for the Grizzlies? What a joke.
