Is anyone enjoying the Lakers games as much as me? Kobe was sick yesterday, pouring in 39 points in the 2nd half, but the Lakers still lost to the Nets in OT. He scored 46 of their 96 points! A great talent is being completely wasted on that team and I'm really glad about it. By the time they are able to put a team around him in 3 years or so, Kobe won't have anything left.

He's having a very interesting, and very anti-Phil Jackson start to the season so far. In short, he's raised his scoring to another level, but at the same time is sacrificing the rest of his game. The exact opposite of what Jackson has previously pleaded with him to do (as he also did with Jordan).

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/stats?statsId=3118
Scoring: 34 PPG, vs career 23, career high 30 in 02-03, and last year's 28
    Shooting: launching 29 shots/game, vs 18 (cr), 23.5 (02-03), and 20 (LYr)
FG% and 3PT shooting roughly on par with his career numbers

Assists (4.3) are his lowest in 6 years (6.0 last yr)
Rebounds (4.9) and Steals (0.8) are his lowest since he was a bench player for the Lakers (97-98)
Last Year he avged a Double-Double twice every 7 games, he has none this year through 12
Lowest Scoring Efficiency (1.175) and Shooting Efficiency (0.453) of his career

I should note that he's only played about a seventh of the season, and these numbers will almost certainly change.

More and more, I think Phil is allowing Kobe to play however he feels like playing with no attempts to rein him in. I think Phil's doing this to prove to Kobe that his way won't give them a ring. Of course, I fully expect Kobe to then point the finger at the supporting cast and go sunbathe in denial.

Well, the rest of the team shoot 31%. Who do you prefer to shoot if you are the coach?

if you are a superstar, you either make your teamates better or you carry them. As pointed out 2 posts above, Kobe isn't doing either.

I'm sorry, but all threads about the Lakers and/or Kobe Bryant must have prior approval of Rocketman95 before being posted in this forum.

I went ahead and gave my approval with my post since they're in last place in their division. However, all future threads praising the Lakers need to have my prior approval, which they will not recieve. :D

Personally, I would prefer one of the top playmakers in the league to show he can create opportunities for his teammates and help raise their games to a higher level.

Dream, Magic, MJ, Bird, Shaq, and Duncan are all examples of players that made even scrubs look good on their team. Kobe, on the other hand, suppresses his teammates' games. In LA, Odom has been scoring under his career average. Did he get worse, or did he lose opportunities? (hint: he's registered the lowest FGA of his career in his year and a half in LA)

    Nah.

Kobe is all talent and no brains. The guy is just plain stupid.

I'm glad his team loses. I'm glad he loses.

I just feel bad for Odom...I hate the FAKErs but Odom seemed to finally be putting it together in Miami and becoming a leader and then was traded to a team with Kobe where he doesn't get to touch the ball AT ALL.

Actually, every time somebody praises the Lakers in here, they seem to start sucking, so if you REALLY despise the Lakers, you might want to rethink that. ;)

he's not that good anymore (or was he ever?). last night game was an example. when kidd guarded him one on one kidd must have 10 steals from him. if you can't draw double, triple team all the time your role players won't have a high %-tage shooting.

I feel bad for Odom too. The guy was doing great in Miami and represented well at the Olympics. Now he has to put up with Kobe's ego. *sigh*

    Poor guy. :(

C'mon guys. Stop the weeping for Odom. I like him too, but some of it's on him, not Kobe. Odom is weak mentally. I don't mean he's dumb, but he doesn't have the mental toughness of someone like Caron Butler, who played well despite Kobe's presence on the floor.

Hopefully Odom will be traded to another team on the cheap and do well.

I remember one time playing a pickup game, one of the guys on the other team was taking all the shots and scoring all the points. He was good, and was in a zone that day. But all other players (on both teams) just whispered, "It's no fun."

Can you imagine how it's like to be on the Lakers right now?

Im glad that these lakers loses, shows that Phil Jackson is not a great coach, just a lucky coach who gets teams with great players to win championships.
