I've been reading the Lakers board here and there's a pretty long thread on Wafer and whether they released him early.

Lots of insecurity, some praise, mixed in with things I didn't know like:

Here's the link to the thread:

its just one comment from one fan, no one backed it up...the info is probably not credible...if he was really fighting with teammates that much another poster would have probably pointed that out, but all they say was that he chucked shots, didnt do anything else besides score, etc.

I always find it funny how the fans of opposing teams are always so condescending about players from other teams, even if they played for them before. One thing I love about this board is how we rally around guys that we rooted for before. I think it's safe to say the majority of us hold absolutely no ill-will towards Rafer Alston (minus a few posters who I won't name here), and wish him success in Orlando. Other fans however, would probably spew all kinds of hateful things about him, as if they never rooted for the guy while he was there.

Wafer has become a better player since he played for the lakers.

If he argued with players in the locker room that only happened on the lakers and he has learned from that, because if he did that on the rockets, he would be waived or get no playing time cuz adelman would not tolerate that.

we got a steal in getting wafer :)

A friend of a friend who works in the lockerroom says Von is really stupid and annoying and makes everyone around him kind of pissed.

I REALLY hope that this is not true. Von Wafer has been great this year.

Von is a spark off of the bench I just hate how he takes bad shots.

Take it to the cup get the Dunk, Lay up or the foul.

That 3 he jacks up is not cutting it.

I don't really know what kind of position we'd be in right now without him. I don't think he's great, and I don't know if I've seen enough out of him to say that he's even going to be a solid career backup. But I do know he's scored some points for the Rockets when we needed it, and he's really rounded out the bench this season.

As far as the other guys thinking he's annoying....Well, I hope that's not true.

One of the criticisms of Von Wafer throughout his career, and the reason why he wasn't drafted high, was because he had lots of off the court troubles, and was a bad locker room guy.
