They have a poll for who they want to play, 83% chose Houston. Here's some choice comments: "Houston! ( knock on wood ) they only have 1 force - Yao ming, and hes not that good when he goes against our big centers ( was shaq, now bynum ). we sweep them in 4 because ther home crowd sucks XD" "Either team,( which looks like the Rockets) will do as far as I'm concerned. Were sending them fishing regardless." "Houston. Welcome to the Second Round. The exit is that-a-way." "Houston. We owned them all season long. No reason to believe we won't continue that trend. I do hope Portland wins tomorrow night. I would love the Lakers to get a couple more days rest." "Of those two, I want Houston. I'm not after glory, I'm after the easier match-up." "More success with Houston. Don't expect it to be easy but L.A. can get wins in Toyota Center which is more than I can say for the Rose Garden." "Houston, who has faded in every 4th quarter we've played them. Yao will be tough, but he's going to wear down without Deke. They're a good team but we happen to match well with them, and we don't match well with Portland."
uhh they swept us 4-0, 3 of them w/o bynum. and they struggled in portland historically, including this year. it's an easy choice for portland. all the laker fans i know want houston.
Yeah, this is a no-brainer for the Lakers although I think they would kill Portland too. The playoffs are a different animal.
let's see those choices are correct or not. The playoff always is totally different from the regular season. Let's see man, just let's see.
Should we tell them the feelings mutual? We want to be playing the Lakers in the next round too - right?
And I want the Lakers. Thank god they are taking Utah out for us (Laker fans need to be careful what they wish for)
Laker fans, for the most part, are bandwagoning trolls. Even the real fans are spoiled (in terms of having great talent). Obviously, I don't expect the Rockets to win the series. I would say 6-7 games is a good series -- if you're a realist and not a homer. The truth is we don't have enough offense. Yao is the only real player that can average 20. Every other person is just pretty much random nights and whether or not that's a good thing I have no say.
Exaclty. It's about match ups. We wanted Portland, even though the dumb ass pundits couldnt accept we were a bad match up for them. The Lakers may very well beat us, but we Rockets fans are fed up with Utah.
I think yao/scola is better match with bynum/gasol rather than gasol/odom. Bynum play poor with jazz even if jazz do not have okur in first 3 game and lost the start lineup position. I hope they use bynum more again if we really face them in second round.
Believe me guys.. there is nothing easy in the playoffs.. playing one of those teams will give us fits.. Portland play like a dream team all the time agains the lakers in rose garden and we always had that problem winning there (the only time i remember us having an easy time winning in portland was the first year of the three peat in 2000) when we had a pretty damn good team.. but ever since we always seem to lose there.. the problem with houston is that they are much more experianced, poised than the blazers.. and plus if there is a team that can beat us at staples center its the houston rockets.. not portland! so it wont be easy either way.. matchups will be tougher with houston since they play better defence and they have talent and an all-star in Yoa ming.. it wont go less than 6 thats what i think maybe a 7th game and after that who knows
Lets wait and see....if the Rockets make it out of the first round. If we do, I say the max is 6 games with the Rockets losing. Then again...anything can happen in the playoffs. Realistically speaking, it is hard to see the Rockets beating the Lakers.
If we get past the first round.... We have the right kind of team to beat the Lakers. We can pound them down low, where neither Pao nor Bynum can fade Yao (and Yao wrecks their world). Yao needs to give us 28/10/3 a night OR completely shut down Pao and give us 20/12/3. We have Battier and Artest to harrass the poop out of Kobe. Get him mad. Make him take shots he normally wouldn't. (Just tell Artest to make Kobe mad, not get into an offensive duel with him). Landry's length and athleticism is a good matchup against Odom, and I hope Adelman uses Landry more when Odom is in the game, going to Scola more when he's out. At PG, we finally have the big strong guard we need to defend Derek Fisher (and attack the rack himself) in Lowry. Brooks is way too fast for Fisher to defend, and we'll need him to be aggressive and looking to shoot. Von Wafer. Dude can slash, create, score, shoot. We'll need a lot from this guy in this series. Make Kobe work constantly on both ends, and he'll fade. Dude is human, sort of. Bynum's knee is hurt (neutralizing the Deke injury). Walton's foot is hurt badly, he might not play at all the whole series. If the offense is in motion, everyone moves without the ball, Adelman draws up crazy screens leading to layups, we can win this. Do we have to play well? Hell yeah. But first, you gotta believe. Rockets over Lakers in 6. Game 1: Lose Game 2: Win Game 3: Lose Game 4: Win Game 5: Win Game 6: Win
The only way the Rockets will win is if body up hard on Kobe and get into his head. Its will be hard but its possible.
lol I don't mean to poop on your parade, but those are some mighty stretches there. Chances are Lakers will sweep us if we make it past the 1st round, they are just too big and too talented for us. They swept us in the regular season and I expect them to do so again. If we're lucky we'll get 1 win at home like the Jazz did.
