Today I listened to a radio interview of Rudy T who was meeting with laker fans in Long Beach. He said there's a big crowd of fans and he didn't have that in Houston. It seems that he is very impressed with the laker fans.

I saw a lot of empty seats at yesterday's game on TNT. I am wondering where are the rox fans?

I believe there is a large contigency of hardcore Rockets fans. But I also believe there is a larger contigency of fair weather fans in Houston.

Thats just the way Houston is. Its not like the Chicago Cubs or Cleveland Browns where when the team stinks the fans still show.
If the Rockets stink (which they have most of the season), this is what happens.

I also the other factor is the NBA. There aren't enough Marque Players that people are dying to see. LeBron is excellent, but he's nothing to compared to when Jordan was around. The Bulls tickets were impossible to get. Same with Magic and the Lakers, Bird, Dominque..

Actually we had a nice crowd for the game last night. It was a bit mixed though because of the number of Spurs fans.

When we finally started making more stupid plays and were down by like 11 or so before all the good stuff happened most people left. There was good reason to. Its not like we weren't making shots at the end of the game.

We were missing shots (bad) making stupid mistakes and letting them get a bigger and bigger lead.

Really, there's a lot of Spurs fans in that game? No wonder I heard some cheering when Spurs makes good plays. I was thinking Rox was really bad in that stretch, Rox fans cheers for the spurs.

They are out working and trying to get ahead so that one day they may actually be able to afford to go to a Rocket game without having to take out a 2nd mortgage.

There were around maybe 17,000 people at the game but like Stack said most of them left when we were down by 10+ with less than 2 minutes left. I guess they wanted to beat the rush. I personally always stay after the games so I can get to see some of the players and Gene always interviews some of the players after wins.

    well....yeah...think about it...
San Antonio is only a hour and a half away from Houston...so it is easy for the diehard Spurs fan to come see them play here.

and I dont understadn why the gripe about the amount of fans.....the capacity is 18K...and we had over 17K there.

there were a few empty seats down in the lower bowl, but rest assured...everywhere else was packed.

How fast Rudy forgets how the Lakers used to be a push over team around 95-97 and they had small numbers there as well...

Hardcore Rocket fans are way up in the cheap seats. Invisible corporate accounts are down in the empty seats.

    Every night's a sell-out!

At least they should put some mic's hooked up to the upper section so they get some louder crowd noise in the lower bowl area..

The one thing i am glad to see is that they actually started getting some of their staff to each section up on the top section to throw t-shirts to them in the Rafters and stuff to get them involved because before there was no way they could ever get anything and some of the biggest fans are up there as well as younger kids etc.

The funny thing is, Houston definately does have two of the marquee players in the league.
