I honestly did not make the connection that all those lights were drones in the sky until I heard it said. Doh! I thought it was an effect of some sort...like one of those x-mas laser lights. lol Where were all the pilots? Lady Gaga was great. I kept waiting on a surprise appearance by someone because that was all that was talked about all week leading up to it. I was expecting Beyonce or Elton John. Nope. She pulled it off all on her own (well with lots of help obviously). The intro and entrance from the roof was excellent.
I saw on TV this morning that the drone footage was shot earlier in the week and then added to the live performance by Gaga.
She wasn't actually on the roof yesterday. That and the drones were filmed earlier in the week. Still, it was very well done. I'm not a fan of her music in the least bit...but that was a great show. I was sitting in the Club level in the end zone and I could feel the actual heat off of the fire.
I loved the HT show, the special effects were amazing! It really looked like the roof was open, WOW!!! Must have been an amazing CGI budget!!
Maybe I'll take some criticism here, but watching it on TV the whole thing felt like a bad TV weather blue screen with odd colored graphics being added for some reason. It didn't feel right watching it. And watching the video now I still think it all looks artificial, even the jump looked off kilter. I assumed at first she wasn't even on the roof it looked that odd. And I didn't know they were drones at the time, but figured it out eventually during the game, which made it a little better, until today, when you'all just told me they added it in, which is lame. The bungies looked like a bad trampoline act, but at least revealed to me she really had been on the roof. But after dropping in, it then looked like she lip synced most of the show, which I don't know for sure, but It sure looked that way on TV. So for me it was one of the worst. I do like her music and think all the tracks were fine. Loved Bad Romance. The dancing group was very good. As was Lady GagGa's era clothing and dancing. But because I couldn't suspend any disbelief out of the gate, the whole thing sailed wide right on me.
So, it was a perfect 70 degree, cloudless night in Houston, and the roof was closed? Sounds about right.
I can't believe I'm actually defending lady gaga, but I'm pretty sure none of that was lip synced. You could hear her breathing hard at various points which is a dead giveaway that she's really singing. Also, the vocals weren't perfect like you would expect when lip syncing. I guess I had a few too many beers, but I really did think she jumped from the roof. Hearing that she didn't is a little disappointing. So, she was still really hanging from those wires, right? How did that all work if she didn't come down from the roof?
Yep. Riding the bus over with many NFL execs, I was joking with them that we here in Houston assumed that it was just rusted shut. There was no logical reason to have it closed...especially in the 2nd half as the smoke never left the building.
Like most big acts today she was singing the main hook over a backing track, so at times she would come in and out of the mix. The 1st part on the roof was badly lip sync'd tho.
Yeah, I figure it wasn't all lip synced. I guess I was just happy to see that she was singing more than most pop stars would have sung. The bar has been lowered, I suppose. That said, I thought it was a pretty entertaining halftime. It was no Prince or post 9/11 U2....but pretty damn entertaining.
