Rockets drafted Spanoulis, a 6-foot-4 point guard, is playing for Maroussi in Greece where he averaged 11.1 points on 45.6% shooting and 3.3 dimes a game this past season. Could that be the reason why they dont want to spend a tremendous amount on a FA PG - i.e. Derek Fisher. I dont think it would have been wise to give the contracts that have been offered for the PG's. I would have however given BBary the money because he can play multiple positions. So now what - I just hope we use our TE to get a good PG or a strong PF. I think the lack of movement could also be due to the 60 day trade morotorum on Lue and Howard who may be packaged to get what we are looking for.... Thoughts...
Having never seen the guy play I have no idea. Logically if he does pan out he will not contribute for 2-3 years. I doubt that would stop them from trying to get someone now.
Actually, I just returned from a month in Greece. I spoke to a couple of people who have seen this guy play. Their take was that he was talented, promising, but lacking in experience. I doubt that the Rox would count on a pick in the 50's to cover their point for the season. I think that Spanoulis is more of a project that anything else.
Well I'd rather not spend for something not a guarantee sure thing... There were no guarantee sure no doubt about it starting PGs out there... Fisher, living off that hail may shot... Jones, coming off a his best season and wants to see the money Snow, they wanted Howard our starting PF(NO) Daniels, we probably never had a real shot at him Ollie, is not worth the money... I think Houston has done the smart thing by not doing anything while all these teams are spending like crazy... The Bobcats are the only team not to have moved or signed any big players yet... Denver's used theres, SA has also, Clips looking, Utah's about done and well only Atlanta and Charlotte have real big time money left... I like how Houston is taking there time and still think CWard will be in a Rox uni. maybe as a backup...
