And so was brad miller. At least they weren't long. Given that lowry misses so many games each season That 6mil was more like 8-9 mil. And miller is getting 5 mil to sit on the bench. Together they are making close to 11 mil, and to think lebron only makes 3 mil more.

I think when you are giving contracts at least consider health. I mean we had tmac and yao already.

Brad Miller was a much much worse contract. Lowry is overpaid for a backup but Brad Miller is washed up. Adelman got his buddy paid.

We matched Cleveland's offer so it was market value. However, this season he has not lived up to last year-I'd blame that on the unexpected spasms as he's looked pretty tentative when he's played. Hopefully he gets over these and can be the offensive wrecking ball and crash the boards like last year. If he's relegated to just running an offense and shooting jumpers then I'd agree that his contract will be a bad one.

horrible moves as a GM, those are not assets....nobody wants to take on 15 million for a 35 year old washed up center, Miller even said the offer was something he couldn't turn down

Kyle Lowry should get $3-4 Million tops, $6 million will turn him into an illiquid asset, again another bad move by Morey

what happens if another team was desperate and was willing to pay Scola 15 million a year? you cant use another team's stupidity to help set the fair market value for a player, and Scola's contract will be untradable in two years...just watch and see

Brad Miller's contract is really crazy, I remember both Chicago and New York media were laughing at the desparate sign. But Huston EXPERTS were saying that was a good move.

Lowry had no health issue before the new contact and he played very well, so I don't blame DM for this one.

Brad Miller's contract is kind of so called LEAGAL CORRUPTION, a lot of coaches do the same thing..........

Brad isn't bad. It's just that we need a defensive shot-blocker more than a passing, shooting big man because the wings don't have their act together.

I'm OK with Lowry and Scola, but Miller seemed like an un-Morey move. I suspect (with absolutely no proof) that Rick pushed hard for that signing.

And the Morey bashing (and it's definitely picking up) is silly. Even if you don't like these signings, they're hardly disastrous by NBA standards. Let's just see what happens between now and the deadline before sharpening our knives.

The market set the price for both of them.

    Luke Ridnour got 4yrs 16M.

    Darko Milicic got 4yrs 20M.

Would you rather have any of those guys? I agree they are the floor when it comes to bad contracts but the fact is the Rockets had no reliable depth at either PG or C so we had to acquire/maintain our assets through free agency. We overpaid yes, but you know what we have now? Depth. Brad Miller might be an on-and-off player, but I guarantee you there will be games where he's called upon to play heavy minutes due to injuries or matchups or whatever. All the great teams in the NBA can attest to the value of having depth as far as it goes to maximize your win total in the regular season. So yes, I'm glad we made both moves, because to not have would have been a far worse fate.

If Ish continues to show and improve, maybe we can move Lowry to Philadelphia (Villanova product) as part of the package to grab Iguadola.

If injuries indicate bad contracts. There have been a lot of bad contracts handed out in Houston the last few years :(

    AGREE AGREE AGREE.

Let's blame it on LEs and Morey, they're men of their words. :).

Lowry, when healthy, is worth it and Miller is a short contract. Not going to kill either move, both will pay dividends down the road...I HOPE.

the Miller contract was high, but it was also at a position of need, and the market is short on good 7 footers. With Yao maxing out at 20 minutes a night, we had to sign someone. Hardly a disastrous move (especially with the 3rd year not guaranteed), and he'll probably win a game or two for us during the course of the season.

As for Lowry, thank god we have a backup point guard capable of playing starter's minutes. With Brooks out 6-8 weeks, that Lowry signing is worth its weight in gold. Don't know why people resent Lowry's contract.

This thread makes no sense....it's clear that Lowry is hurt; you can't throw someone under the bus for being hurt guys. Use some common sense. If we would have lost him to Cleveland, then all hell would have broke lose. Yes...he is a tad bit over paid, but that's not anywhere near a crippling contract other players have been giving. Brad Miller was insurance for Yao...point blank. I would do again in a heart beat. Losing 5 in a row will cause panic threads like this though. I know that people are entitled to their opinions and I respect that, but criticizing Morey for making these moves are stretching it.

Find me another PG not on a rookie contract that you would rather have than Lowry.

One that hasn't had been plagued by injury. Seriously, do we just sign players because they can't play all 82 games?

Agree on Miller, I think we overpaid there.

On Lowry, I agree a bit as well, but it is not Lowry's fault it is Morey's fault for not signing him to an extension for cheaper when he had the chance.

When you let the market set the price there can be one team with a crazy offer that you are forced to match, Kyle got that crazy offer, and Luis was going to as well...before the team folded up and signed him.

They really should review that strategy, it is not a good one, IMO.

Its kinda like the Moochie Norris situation all over again isn't it. But granted Lowry has been injured all this time though.

Good Grief....injuries happen man, teams go through this. Lowry got HURT playing HARD....like he always plays; HARD. If you get hurt playing hard, then I will always live with it. I will NEVER throw you under the bus because you got hurt. He earned that contract and it was well deserved...I'd give it to him again because he plays his @ss off out there. People have short memories and selective judgment....can't be what have you done for me lately all the time. This thread is unwarranted.
