The NBC affiliate yanked their signal from Time Warner cable today. They are no longer offered on Cable TV....

The root of the dispute is that KXAN wants to be paid for their signal, even though they get their bandwidth to broadcast free from the government.

I wonder who will blink? You can still watch KXAN with Rabbit ears, but I can NOT go without Heroes in HD.......

And that doesn't even talk about the football games I will miss.

    Dang.....this sucks.....

They want to be paid for their signal.....which seems reasonable, should Time Warner now ask for a portion of their advertising revenues since they are broadcasting them on cable?

Also, I think the Super Bowl is on NBC this year.

Suddenlink cable had this same or similar $$$ issue with KXAN when their contract came up for renewal.

Suddenlink called their bluff and started broadcasting a cheap NBC affiliate out of Killeen/Waco.

    KXAN caved.

If you have a HD tv, doesn't that mean you can watch HD broadcast? Do you not have a HD tuner in your set?

Correct. With a cheap Radio Shack antenna I pull in close to 20 HD OTA channels from Austin, Killen, Waco and Belton.

It's actually a cleaner picture because it is uncompressed. Don't ask me to explain, but my brother in broadcast TV assured me that was the case.

That is true, they could broadcast a San Antonio NBC affiliate...or maybe a Waco one...

We don't have NBC in HD up here in Nacogdoches either. Sucks.

Step #1: Buy a larger monitor, or buy one of those things that transfers it to your HDTV.

Step #2: Enable "Full Screen" option.

Thanks but I know how to do all of that.......and have five HD TV moniters in my house, culminating with a 100" theater setup....

I don't want to watch it with my PC though, and to DL it using XBox costs money.....thanks to Tinny for the hookup, I just checked it out....pretty neat...

if you have a graphics card good enough to support HD out you can hook up any HDTV to it
